The hospital serves a large community with a high percentage of older patients. A large part of the hospital beds are taken by individuals who have received treatment but can't be discharged because there is no one to take care of them during their recovery. The nurses and doctors are doing their best but demand exceeds supply. The issue is resources not commitment.
I was admitted to the hospital for 72 hours observation and a new prescription to be monitored only to be released the next morning because the 4 doctors told me they couldn’t do anything for me because their conclusion was based on me being lonely. I was depressed my anxiety crying and more. Nothing was done for me so they sent me home. On Monday which would have been my 72 hours a received a phone call from the hospital trying to cover up their mistake they had made. They tried to put the blame on me because I was no longer there and tried to show compassion which was a joke. I am still battling my demons with no help because of 4 idiots who didn’t take the time to check past charts. No wonder suicide is on the incline no one really listens till most time it’s too late. So now I suffer alone when the doctor who admitted me had a plan to help.
Had 2 weekend visits to KGH Emergency Department. Triage was kind quick and caring and all the Emerg staff on top of pain control and comfort. They were engaged at all times made sure I I understood my issue and the car of it. Can't say enough good about our hospital. So proud. Thank you Emergency Dept. you are all wonderful.
I recently had ankle surgery and I have to say the this hospital exceeded my expectations. The kindness of all the staff was greatly appreciated. Dr. Da Cunha and Dr. MacLeod was fantastic! Surgery is never fun or enjoyable but thank you for making a stressful situation as relaxing as possible.
I am a physician myself. I found the general surgical on-call resident team is third world standard while at the same time beyond arrogant. They refused to attend to my wife when she almost crashed on the first evening of a major surgery. Her attending nurse that night was just as bad. Had it not been for her very compassionate and attentive surgeon, I would have file a complaint with both the College of Physicians and Surgeon and the College of Nurses about these bunch of incompetent fools.
Poor service. Do not care if you live or die. Always tell you have 20 minutes too busy. Do not listen. Wife broke foot dr. Da cunha would not see her, sent a shoulder guy and stupid interns to handle it. She did not return phone calls. Told to live with it basically. Went to US got it fixed instantly by experts. As for me told it with poor health asleast youarealive. Seems if you reach a certain age they do not want to waste time on you. Do not go to or donate to this hospital as they do not care and are wasteful of money with their inefficiencies.
I was in KGH for 3 weeks and drs could not figure out what was wrong with my FI tract and so they gave it a generalized diagnosis, but this diagnosis is a guess. I do not have faith that drs will keep theirvword when they promise you multiple times that they aren’t gonna discharge you until the problem is fixed. Well, how long does it take??? The only tests I had done were daily bloodwork, a contrast CT scan and a stomach emptying study that made me so ill, I was quarantined when I woke up after 10/10 pain, vomiting bile and stomach acid, no food for 2 weeks, countless needles, resident drs who don’t pay attention and student nurses being disruptive at 5:30am to take your vitals. 5 mins after they’d been taken by a real nurse. The fact that my own sister, Heather Hart, a nurse at KGH for several years didn’t even bother to see me on KIDD 6 635-2 the entire 3 weeks and another sister who never visited. The hallways are constantly buzzing with work related items, gossip and hospital policies that were affecting the Porters whore and integral cog in the wheel that makes KGH go around. I was born in KGH. My mother trained as a nurse (before Queen’s) and graduated in the class of 1965. The communication between depts and myself was terrible at its best and I’m expected to remain a patient on an outpatient basis, but the GI clinic can see me for at least a month. How does this get me any better??? It doesn’t!! If I fall back into my old ways of dehydration, low Potassium, Vitamin K deficiency and low blood pressure, where am I to go?? Ottawa or Toronto?? They are my only two options. Not to mention that thevinfo on my chart was wrong and it took weeks to fix such a small thing. I’d rather endure the pain for a 2-3 hr car ride to Sunnybrook or Ottawa General. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND KGH IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT.

I have seen by many doctors in 70 years but Dr. Jeffrey is by far the best. I was blessed to have him as my doctor.

He put me back together when another surgeon destroyed my insides. He gave me back my life . That was back in 1986. I miss him here in Montreal. I owe him my life

Bad experience with him. He lacks empathy and seems bored by his job. It is a job to him and not a calling.
