Ratings for Dr. Robert A. Tower
2.5
Dr Tower consistently screws up referrals and prescriptions. I need surgery on my left hip and he said, in September 2025, he would put in a referral to a surgeon. In a March office visit, I brought up the referral. At that point, 7 months later, he finally put in the referral. Meanwhile I put up with a lot of pain and mobility issues and now must wait another 6 months. With prescriptions he consistently phones in the wrong prescriptions to the pharmacist or leaves out the ones I consulted with him to get. His bedside manner is brusque and arrogant to boot
without a doubt one of the worst doctors I have ever had the misfortune to have to meet! Im glad I dont personally have to have him for my dr. Unfortunately I have family members who are forced to see him. Not only is he not knowledgeable he insists on doing himself, but he has very poor interpersonal skills! He banned me from his office because I dared voice to him what I knew to be a dangerous practice (even though my family member is in my care!)! His staff are great and have probably had to bite their tongues in half many times. I found him to be quite chauvinistic and non-appreciative of anyone's opinion or knowledge but his own. It's my opinion that, if he were a surgeon, he would be very dangerous indeed! I, personally, wouldnt take my dog to him. Ive tried to find another dr for my family members, but being PG, that aint easy! He even charged one family member $50 for his staff to fill out a form for a handicap sign for a vehicle! An old age pensioner on a fixed income! The only thing this "doctor" has going for him is his staff!
Dr Tower has always been kind and patient when I see him for myself or my children. He explains everything well so I understand. He got to the bottom of my sons problem when our previous doctor wouldn't listen. He listened to me when I was struggling with depression and was compassionate and helpful. When my Grandmother was not able to see him in his office, he made a house call. The only downside I found with this doctor is that his office is usually booking 3 weeks in advance. However, there is not much they can do about that when he has a very full practice and there are doctor shortages in Prince George.
We inherited this "doctor" from our former doctor. Dr. Towers is awful: his bed side manner is lacking, he is quick to point out something else as a reason for your medical condition (ei - I have migraine headaches and his response was if i lost weight the headaches would stop. A family member has depression, anxiety and ADHD which has led to alcohol use - if they stop drinking everything will go away.) When asked about a formal ADHD diagnosis, Dr. Tower advised it would be very expensive and I would need to be referred to Vancouver, but he didnt even know who to refer me to. We require medical forms filled out. Dropped them off in mid July and was told we needed appointment to review the forms and was booked 3 weeks later. Attended the appointment where we were advised that he had no idea how to fill them out. He handed the forms back to me and said fill them out and he will sign them. He then said he would sign them and email them to me to submit. I am still waiting . He has delayed my application for benefits over a month now. If he fired me as a patient it wouldn't be the worst thing. I would stand a chance at being put on a list for new doctor and might actually get one who cares about their patient and has some knowledge and compassion for treating patients with concurrent disorders. This man is NOT cut out be a family practitioner at all.
The longer you stay with this idiot the shorter your life will be, bottom line!
In person and phone calls n. Always forgets what was discussed, no follow up with regards to tests including life changing health issues. Does not listen and is quick to shrug off with responses like “your old and need to get your heart rate up-do more” States will call with results, when there is no call and you phone into office to enquire, you then have to make a phone appt for weeks later. Would not recommend as a family physician
I've had both in person and tele-health appointments with Dr. Tower. Knowledgeable, patient, and considerate. He's excellent. Highly recommended.
Dr Tower is the most condescending and rude doctor I have ever spoken to. Doctors should be informative and respectful of their patients. He is neither.
Went in to see him and he doubted anything I told him about previous diagnosis from dr A. Then he told me that there was an issue from blood work I had done 2 yrs ago that he never told me about. He tried to scare me about possible treatments for my issue and then said he would only request an xray if there was a worst case scenario. Finally got firm and told him I needed it done. I'm so frustrated. If it was at all possible I would quit him. No bedside manner and he doesn't listen especially when people tend to know their bodies best.
Despite it being a busy office, he will sit and answer all your questions until you understand fully. When dealing with issues that required a specialist, he did every test he could and even referred me to two other doctors to help build my case so I could get into my specialist faster. He can be quite blunt but still honest of his opinion. You do have to ask why he is giving you the answer though if you aren't sure or he will not tell you.
