Ratings for Dr. Dayle Sigesmund
It is shocking to me that every time I arrive here, there is a waiting room packed with parents and small children. Even the hall was jammed today with people sitting on the floor. I know they see emergency patients and the have to administer eye drops so there's a necessary wait time but there has to be a better system that is more respectful or people's time. Parents take time off work to get here, only to wait for hours with tired, impatient children. I bring snacks and activities now because I learned my lesson the hard way. I also feel like the appointments are quite frequent - do they need to be? Only to be told everything looks fine but come back soon just to be sure? I actually called my Dr today, while waiting, to ask for a referral to a new opthamologist. I just can't handle the hours of waiting anymore and worry I'll lose my cool.
So disrespectful to parents of young children. It's 2016 surely they could figure out a better way that we would not have to wait for, literally, hours with a toddler for her insight. Great knowledge but who cares when your kid is all over the place for 3 hours !! Shame on you !!! How about a simple solution ? Take your patients cell number and text when 30 mins out ? Too simple probably. Ug
If this is what our tax dollars pay for- I would like to take mine back and go to the US. A cattle farm is more organized and just as inviting. You call to book and they tell you come prepared to wait 3 hours with your 6 month old, don't bring a stroller, a sibling or a husband and there won't be chairs to sit on because the clinic is busy. I guess they were just setting expectations... arrive and you are spoken to like you being there is a problem. Dr. S almost a mowed down a 3 year old shouting at her clerk " where are these people"... you mean the poor people in the hall with their 2 year old because you told them they could stay in the office because there is no room. I plan to write Minister Hoskins and the OMA about this place as I am sure Dr.S is well paid for what she does and treats her patients like cattle.
I was very frustrated waiting to see her BUT, her knowledge and quick thinking is what helper my daughter. If it wasn't for her requesting an MRI we never would not have known the issues hat she was having. Thank you Dr. Sigesmund for everything that you have done. And you continuous support.
Dealing with Dr. Sigesmund and her office is definitely by far the worst experience I have had with any doctor. Rather than rant about my frustrations, I will list them in a very concise fashion here: 1. Almost every time you go there, unless you have one of the first appointments of the day, you are waiting 2-3 hours. 2. Clearly the office is making good money if they are that busy, yet only an abacus and a few books are provided for entertainment for all the kids waiting 3 hours for their appointment. Many times, you have to sit in the hallway because the office is overflowing. 3. Many times appointments are cancelled last minute as she is not in the office, after booking time off work to go downtown to see her. 4. Many times we have to go back unnecessarily because she couldn't take readings and required drops in the eyes. Why not just do the drops in the first place if it continues to happen every time? 5. Generally the reception staff seems impatient and off putting. Not a welcoming environment. All in all, in my humble opinion, Dr. Sigesmund has zero respect for anyone else's time. This is perfect example of today's age where doctors have no concern for bedside manner or patient satisfaction, it's all about how many people (ie. how much money) they can pump through office in a day and not inconvenience themselves or lose a dime waiting a single second for anyone else. Unfortunately there don't seem to be many pediatric ophthalmologists around, so options are limited, and it would seem they know this quite well, as she didn't seem concerned at all when I mentioned perhaps going elsewhere. Highly recommend finding someone else if you can.
