Ratings for Dr. Stephen T. Skoly
Skoly would appear to be a brute. My 83-year-old mother was referred to him for a tooth extraction. He began the extraction too soon after administering Novocaine; the area had not yet been numbed. She was crying out in extreme, agonizing pain, and he did nothing to alleviate her suffering. Her impression is that he was on a tight schedule and couldn't afford to interrupt himself to allow for the Novocaine to take effect, or to apply corrective measures to ease her suffering (hence, he gets top marks for punctuality--apparently wouldn't dream of interrupting himself to address a patient's pain). And after all, what's the suffering of an old lady trapped in a chair, particularly when he's on a tight schedule? The infliction of unnecessary pain and suffering is considered inhumane. Unless you're into sadism, avoid this automaton.
Definitely would not recommend this doctor. Horrible pain for too long after wisdom teeth removal. No sleeping or eating for days. Had complications which they claimed as "common" but was not the common dry socket. Eight days out of work. I wish I would have talked to other people first, everyone I talked to that has been to him had a horrible experience.
Certainly would not recommend. Staff and doctor are very poor at communicating information regarding wisdom extraction. They disregard patients concerns and questions; answering with vague information to make you stop asking.I know they didn't administer the proper medication for the extraction.my daughter was in massive pain afterwards(only 2 teeth removed). She was able to walk out of office with no assistance and then walk through grocery store after procedure. I don't know of anyone who had wisdom teeth removed that could walk ok after removal. Pain continued for weeks and doctor had dismissive attitude and didn't care or administer proper pain relief. Only went here because of Insurance, NEVER AGAIN.
I went here to get my wisdom teeth extracted, Dr. Skoly was great!, I'm a college dude, and I felt like I could hang out with him outside of the office. He was very reassuring before and during the procedure. The receptionists were very nice an outgoing, and the nurse that attended to me was first class, very nice, knowledgeable, everything you could ask for in a nurse. When I went in for the procedure, I was nervous but the nurses calmed me down, I was even allowed to listen to music from my iPod during the procedure. The procedure itself was quick, clean, efficient and extremely well done. The doctor came and before I knew it I had an IV in my arm and the doctor was explaining the procedure as I dozed off from an amazing sedative/painkiller. The only pain I felt throughout the whole procedure was needle pricks from the novocaine. Before I knew it, they were done. The best part? I didn't even need the pain meds I was prescribed! My insurance covered everything too! He's the best!!
I took my son to Dr. slowly last year for his wisdom teeth. He removed all 4 teeth and it went extremely well. Now it wast my turn and I had to have a tooth extracted. I had read some bad reviews and was second guessing my decision to go to Dr. skoly but decided to keep my appt. Although I am an adult women, I am a big baby, Sooo scared. Dr. Skoly was wonderful. He answered all my questions, tried his best to relax me and did I perfect job. I did not feel a thing. During the procedure, start to finish, he made sure I was ok. I just got home from my extraction and it was as perfect as it could be (for having a tooth pulled). :)
I brought two of my children to see Dr. Skoly for extraction of their wisdom teeth. The doctor was very knowledgable and explained the procedure, as well as showing us a video. His assistants were excellent and had terrific bed side manner!! My children thought the experience was great considering they had surgery :)
