Ratings for Dr. Farruk Amanullah
Reception was nice. My appt was at 10, at 10:05 there was still 12 people ahead of me. Ordered a colonoscopy within a week. Told me to take a drink that didn't do what it needed to do so I had to come back the next day for another colonoscopy. Sat at the hospital for 2 hours before I was informed that he had 2 back to back procedures and wouldn't get in for probably another 2 hours. I haven't been able to eat in 3 days. Other than asking how I'm doing when I got in the room, I haven't seen him at all
Unprofessional, rude, inexperienced, no compassion. I went to him for a bad breath issue. He noted my referral indicated I had an ileostomy. He wanted to know how I knew I had an ileostomy. He also asked if I could prove it, and if he could see it. As to my breath issue, he suggested I carry around a big bag of gum. After waiting more than two hours in his packed reception room, his secretary let us know he had slept in. On the positive side, this gastroenterologist now knows what an ostomy appliance looks like. I also realized that if he could manage life with his behaviour, I could manage with bad breath.
I am very surprised with this last comment. I have been going to see Dr. Amanullah for over 6 years and this doesn't sound at all like something he would say. I have been asked to be in a study with a trail medicine and since I know that I will need a transplant (and I respect his honesty) he told me that it was what he would do if he was in my situation. He works side by side with my doctor in Edmonton. I have never met anyone who was so professional. I have seen more compassion from him then most Dr's, i think you got the wrong impression of him. My doctor in Edmonton has even commented on what great and smart doctor he is.
Rude and total lack of compassion. Newly diagnosed with Hepatitis C, this doctor told me I would die if I didnt do treatment. When I teared up as he told me there was a chance I passed it on to my child, he said i was being childish. He immediately told me i would have to shoot needles into my stomach a few times a day and when i hesitated, wanting more info, and may want to use alternative medicine he said then you will die. Not the doctor you want when if you want answers and some sort of bedside manner. Extremely rude.
I am disgusted with doctors triple or quadruple booking of each appointment times. I am disgusted with the way this doctor office, when I complained to the doctor by letter, his office sent a letter cc'd to my family doctor which was full of deceit and I am filing a complaint
I am surprised at some of the reviews that I have read on here and wonder how many people have been with Dr. Amanullah long enough to rate him. He is a very busy guy, his office is always full, which leads me to believe that he is seeing as many patients as he can. He orders all the tests that I need to make sure that everything is looked after and communicates with my doctor in Edmonton as well as my family doctor very well. He is a very smart doctor and if you are lucky enough to get him, I would keep him. I have learned that sometimes, he cannot give you the answers you need, because he just doesn't know (and some diseases are like that), so at least he doesn't give you false information or hope. I want someone who is going to be truthful and try to give me as much information on what is happening with my body as possible.
