Ratings for Dr. Scott Elliott
I too have been a patient of Doctor Elliott for many years. I have been diabetic the entire time. The disease is progressing and I was having severe issues. I developed neuropathy (nerve damage) and had eye issues. He refused to send me to a specialist or prescribe metfomin. He said I was passed that point. All he said was increase your insulin. I was taking almost 300 units a day! Finally I switched doctors and found out I was insulin resistant. My new doctor prescribed metformin and sent me to an eye specialist and a diabetic specialist. I feel much better now. I will never recommend him to anyone. I feel sorry for his patients. His arrogance will get him a malpractice suit!
Contrary to many previous comments, I have found Dr. Elliott to be very knowledgeable in a vast number of areas. 20 years ago he was able to diagnose a very rare condition just by looking at it. Further tests confirmed his diagnosis and he sent me to a specialist. Dr. Elliott has always been very prompt, but has never rushed me out of the door, many times asking if I had further concerns. He has always ordered tests or sent me to a specialist when needed. I have never been misdiagnosed or treated incorrectly. I do have to say though, his bedside manner leaves something to be desired at times. He can be blunt, even sarcastic. You hear it how he sees it. Dr. Elliott is of a dying breed who actually shows up at the hospital to check in with his admitted patients. I respect him for that! I have always found his staff to be pleasant; perhaps it is because I smile and am pleasant myself. I feel blessed to have Scott Elliott as my family physician, especially after comparing him to the doctors family and friends have.
I have had Dr. Elliott for my GP since 1992. In the beginning he was excellent. He has changed so much, now that I am a senior, is moody, rude and treats me with indifference. His staff are the least compassionate people I have ever dealt with. During the past few years, I have had serious health issues, which he never addresses, anytime I have received help I have had to go to the BGH Emergency, where I have been well looked after and treated the way I would expect Dr. Elliott to treat me. I wish I could find another Dr.. who would treat me with respect etc. but due to the shortage of good physicians I have to contend with this man. He is only 55 years old, each year gets more unpleasant for me. I really don't think he enjoys his work anymore and the patients are the ones who suffer. Sept. 2016
All of my original comments regarding this "doctor" have been taken down for reasons unknown. I've been a patient for over 25 years, and have had my fair share of medical issues. I have no confidence in this doc, after all the slow, ineffective treatmentl I've been put through. He's OK for things that "turns blue or falls off", but anything more nuanced than that, it's virtually useless. He has garnered a bad rep from nurses at the hospital, and I've personally witnessed him lambasting nurses at the hospital. Completely unprofessional conduct, and uncalled for behaviour. He did nothing to prevent my myocardial infarction and my use of supplements and alternative treatments is viewed with complete ridicule by him. I only use supplements I know have clinical validity. My on-going health issues were ignored for so long I lost my job over it, and can no longer keep myself employed due to chronic conditions he claims are due to my "sickness mentality". Bullcrap "Dr." Elliott. He was of no help in securing a CPP disability claim due to his obvious disdain for any form of social assistance. If you have any social or sexual problems, he's the last guy on Earth who can sort it out and help you (unless you are one of those individuals who responds to Viagra). His knowledge of ED must be very shallow, as I've amassed ten times more knowledge on the subject by reading books and articles I've found online from docs who are more versed on the subject than him. I could write volumes of text outlining his pitfalls, but why bother? I'm stuck with him for now, but looking for a replacement in the months to come.
Doctor Elliot and his staff should consider different careers. He is only interested in caring for his patients when it suits him. If you are elderly, then forget it. He refuses care. His staff are rude and disrespectful. My mother was his patient, and due to his negligence, she did not get any kind of care until it was too late. I would rate this doctor with no stars if I could. He and his staff should be very ashamed. Also being told if you cannot attend an appointment then you will not get another for at least 3 months is ridiculous. Clearly Elliot and his staff are in it for the money. They have no care, consideration at all for their patients.
Doctor Elliot has been my doctor my entire life. He is abrupt to say rhe least and very -to -the - point. The staff have a general attitude. Not very happy people. They can be kind at times but I've found it to be a little uncomfortable. Crystal being the only acception (always pleasent). That being said it's understandable, they seem to be tip toeing around the doctors moods each time I've visited. I will say thay for every appointment they're on time or early. The helpfulNess of the staff is great (not including Doctor Elliot). Doctor elliot seems to expect you to have a solution, he tends to push aside things that are seemingly important. His practices are some what outdated at times as well. I've never had an interaction with him in which he was very proactive in assisting the issues I put forth. All of this aside he's wonderful with children. He seems to enjoy them. All in all he's a decent doctor if you know what you want.
Dr. Elliott has been my doctor for over 30 years and I couldn't imagine having anyone else care for my medical needs. I worked in the Long Term Care for 32 years and witnessed many doctors ignore the elderly and show no caring heart. He always came to visit his patients routinely as the gov't requires. Other doctors couldn't even show up to do routine checks on their patients. As a patient of his I have found him to be honest and upfront with my care and he also refuses to pull out the prescription pad as an answer to my health concerns. To many doctors rely of medications to solve health issues when in reality they cause more problems then good.
