I began seeing Dr. Holoka after having seen 3 other Dr's previously. I have PCOS, and Adnomyosis. My first visit I was very sick, and ended up in the emergency room because of severe blood loss. Dr. Holoka took the time necessary with me, explained everything, was sensitive to my needs, and she even called me at home to check up on me. I ended up needing a Hysterectomy, and despite my phobia of surgery, I trusted her completely and knew that I was in good hands. Since surgery, I feel great. Yes, you end up waiting longer than most offices before being seen, but most Dr.'s offices have 10-15 minute mandatory limits per patient, which makes you end up feeling hurried, and just a number. The extra time I wait I know she is taking the time with the other patients, just like she will with me. Not to mention, she has stayed late (past 7pm) to see me in the evening. She's the only GYN Dr. I will ever see.

Dr.Holoka is one of the worst OB/GYNs in the Rockford stateline. I went to her as a new patient, waited over an hour to be seen and when I finally got in, she spent a whole 10 minutes with me. This was the 6th doctor I had seen within a year. Along with the other 5, Dr.Holoka made number 6 for no idea why I was experience the described symptoms. She listened for 5 minutes and when the exam was given it was physically painful, which no other doctor has since beat. She was ditzy, unknowledgeable and a waste of time and my insurance money. Anyone who has any OB/GYN problems needs to attend UW Madison Wisconsin. Upon my first visit to my current Madison Doctor, She diagnosed me with PCOS and Endometriosis which surgery later confirmed. Dr. Holoka is a waste of anyones time.

I was recently seen as a new patient in Dr. Holoka's office! Wait was less than 15 min while I was filling out paper work. Dr. Holoka's nurse Sheila was very personable and outstandingly nice. Once in the room the Dr. Spent a long time with me and explained everything thoroughly. Dr. Holoka is a very knowledgable Physician and has an excellent bed-side manner. I wouldn't want to go to anyone else! :) I am very happy with her.

Dr. Holoka is extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer all of my questions. I am a former patient, forced to switch drs because of insurance changes. However, recently I required a second opinion for an upcoming surgery and went back to Dr. Holoka. She not only explained what was happening to me in greater detail than any other drs have in the past, but she also had a long conversation with me about my overall health and what I can do to prevent future issues/surgeries. She did blood tests on me, which were a little pricey, but ended up being very helpful. Also, my family members have been patients of hers and she recognized my aunt's MS and my mother's autoimmune disorders before their other doctors did (both diseases in which early treatment is key). She is the only doctor I've had that actually treats me and not my symptoms. She seems to really care about my well-being, and I wish more doctors were like her.

Well, where to begin. I, too, had to wait well over an hour and a half beyond my scheduled appointment. She's very personable and knowledgeable, perhaps too much. My exam was okay. There was no nurse, just an office girl, who assisted! I was told they'd call me the next week to do bloodwork; never called me. She kept trying to push Lipitor and HRT on me; I'm going through perimenopause. When, I told her my LDL was 170 at last count, she flipped! Telling me I'm already laying down plaue and a cardiologist can go in and check my arteries and clear them while in there. She got me so upset, thinking I was going to die any minute from a heart attack! Wanted to do all sorts of thyroid and hormone blood work, too, even though my thyroid is fine, as I had it checked recently. Don't think I'll be going back.

I feel that Dr. Holoka is very knowledgeable. I also feel that she takes advantage of patients who know absolutely nothing about the medical field. She spotted me coming a mile away. Always at least an hour, usually more, wait. I was feeling tired and sluggish she suggested blood tests, she said the blood tests came back that I was diabetic. I was never treated for diabetes, I was given weight loss pills and told to come back once a month for "blood pressure checks". Almost 2 years later I had to switch doctors because of insurance. My new doctor suggested blood tests because she didn't think I was diabetic. Blood tests came back negative. I never had diabetes to begin with. WOW! For 2 years I thought I was diabetic, something is very wrong with that.

While I do believe that Dr. Holoka is very knowledgable, she has a terrible bed-side manner. When diagnosing me with ovarian tumors, she bluntly stated that I could have colon cancer (which runs in my family) and then seemed put-off by my terribly upset reaction. She doesn't explain anything. I'm a biologist with a fairly decent understanding of the human body, and I still don't know what's going on. I'm hardly ever seen less than 45 minutes past my appointment time. She charges outrageous rates and, I believe, runs unneccesary tests and prescribes unnecessary drugs. Also, it is impossible to get a hold of her office - they are only open a few days and week. Several times when I've called on days they are supposed to be there, I've ended up talking to the answering service because they were closed. I've had prescriptions run out because the pharmacist wasn't able to get a hold of her office for several days. I do not recommend her at all. In fact, I am not going back.

I really like Dr Holoka. She is always very thorough and sits with me like I am a person not a number. I always feel at ease. They do often run late but I figure it is because she is so personable with all of her patients. To me it is worth the wait to be treated well. I've never had an insurance issue and they have always worked with me on my portions. Again she is thorough and will let me know what she is thinking. I appreciate that and think it is a HUGE plus in a dr. Her nurse if very friendly as is her receptionist. I always feel like they know me there...as opposed to other offices.

Everytime I go see her I sit in the office for more than an hour. They never apologize for the wait & eplain why the wait is so long. The first time I went to see her I had no insurance and yet she thought it necessary to run all these tests. Then she charged me more than $600 knowing I could not pay. Then with this still hanging over me I developed pain. More tests. I looked on the internet & diagnosed myself with having fibroids but again she thought it necessary I have a colonoscopy that I had a few years before that came out clear. I was 37 at the time & no history of colon problems. That came out clear then she orders a vaginal ultra sound that made me cry it hurt so bad it came back that I did have fibroids. She didn't explain anything about the results. I had to learn EVERYTHING that should have been told to me by her on the internet. I had to have a total hysterectomy. I had trouble after & she wouldn't see me unless I paid my first $600. I haven't seen her since surgery.

My 20 year old daughter, a new patient, had a check up with pap test. Her appointment was at 3:00 - she waited until 4:40 to be seen. They expected payment up front for services & they were paid $465.00 in the form of a check. She presented her insurance cards and our card for Lab One to do the lab work. Dr. Holoka did two additional tests not requested or explained & charged an additional $200 for these two tests & did not use our lab insurance & did not answer my calls for explanation. After calling Tuesday, Wednesday & talking to someone Thursday, I was to get a call back but did not receive one. I sent her office a letter & they said they don't use our Lab and just because they took the card and copied it did not mean they would use it. They said that the additional tests we did not request were part of their exam & they always do them. My problem with them is they treated my daughter like she was a stupid female and didn't have the right to know what they were doing.
