Ratings for Dr. Ron Bentham
not good overpriced judgemental with an anger management problem Staff are good but there are always new ones Pushy, arrogant and does even have a Bachelor of Science I find out That gives me pause Apparently back in the old days you could do a amount of time in either college or university and go into dentistry but I had not known this. Definitely would have made a better choice if I knew that certainly. Told my husband that he had the best dental plan he had seen in years so hence the $13000.00 worth of work on my teeth that he said was guaranteed the first time around but appears not to be. Definitely would see someone else next time and go for a second opinion definitely. I have an appointment with him to discuss the outrageous billing and want this broken down into the tiniest minutae. Given my background in accounting and finance I feel quite confident I can address this situation but if I am not satisfied shall definitely take this up with a higher authority.
Dr Bentham is pushy and loves money. He treated our whole family at one time. He did preventive feelings on my kids' molars with ordinary mercury fillings and their molars look like they have cavities. He did all 12 molars on my daughter who was 6 at the time, and he gave her laughing gas. That was torture for a small child, she was traumatized. He did my front crown and it was lighter than the other teeth. He commented after he put it in that the crown will darken in time and that was a lie because our own natural teeth darken in time and not the ceramic crown. I am glad we stopped going to him, there are better and not money hungry dentist in town and area.
He has taken advantage of my good dental plan and crowned faarr more than she should have. A $$ maker. Fed up and traumatized by him splitting my lips and trying to pull out out tooth manually..... Then insisting for th e last yr I need a bridge. I had a 2nd opinion. Over crowned no doubt and my other tooth is stable. Dr. is just a $ maker... Time for him to retire!!
My wife and I visited Dr, Bentham after being referred by someone. My spidey senses went off the minute we walked into his office and it was completely dead in there. Not one person was in the waiting room. Dr. Bentham even came out and introduced himself to us. I thought, if a dentist has time to come into the waiting room, he can't be that busy which raised another flag. After my examination, he was trying to pressure me into signing an estimate sheet consenting and agreeing for him to do the work described. I refused to sign, but he still kept pressuring me saying "By signing, you're only agreeing that you understand what I am telling you". I told him I was a smart person and I can understand just fine without signing anything. Especially when It explicitly said on the estimate sheet that by signing the form, I agreed and authorized him to perform the work. He started telling me he could do the work right then and there if I had time. What kind of a dentist has that much free time that he could spend 2 hours doing the work right then? While he was in the other room examining my wife's teeth, I got talking to one of his assistants. She told me outright not to let him pressure me into doing the work as he does this to everyone and I should get a second opinion. She even wrote down the name of another dentist in town and said tell him xxxx sent you! Whaaaaattt? I was also very concerned after the exam when he told me I needed 13 fillings. I had gone to a dentist when I lived in another province less than a year prior to this visit. I had 3 fillings done there and the dentist said my mouth was in really good shape, so I couldn't understand why i needed 13 fillings. It seemed to me like he was only concerned about how much he could charge to my insurance plan. Before leaving the consultation, he had booked an appointment for us 2 weeks down the road to have the work done he said we needed. I called the next day and canceled as we did not feel comfortable with him and decided to seek another opinion. Later that day Dr. Benthm himself called me to see why we canceled and he was quite rude and even hung up on me. Stay Away!!
So disheartening to read these posts as we put so much trust in a dentist ,I was a patient for years and had 7 root canals done ...3 so far have failed ,,,endodontist basically said my roots are tiny and no dentist should have tried to clean the pupil out as they don't have proper tools or technology to get the root clean,,,,,so here I am getting them fixed out of pocket and one is so bad its an extraction and attempting an implant.of course not with Bentham ,all the money that was put out is leaving my pocket again, how does this keep happening to people!
Dr Bentham is a terrible dentist. The crowns he put on my fiance teeth broke and Fell off less than 2 months after he put them on. They were terribly don't too they made my fiance teeth look like chiclets. Also I think he overcharged us. Never going here again and I really hope no one who reads this goes there either. Please don't give this man your money. So upset
I felt very pressured to get the work done on my teeth. $12,000 later and still regret using him. Many people have commented that my four front teeth look crooked. He replaced those teeth because "they needed to be replaced". Hmmmm. I make my final payment to him today. Would never recommend or use him again. I definitely felt as most do on this forum, that he's all about the money. Sad....considering he's a Christian man.
When I was little, I had full dental coverage through my dad's work. I remember Dr. Bentham saying things to me like "wouldn't you love to have pretty gold fillings?" Thank God I didn't. Every time I left his office I would have six or seven new fillings at the expense of my dad's work. He tried to give me braces, veneers, all kinds of things. My dad noticed something fishy back in the day, so instead of reporting him we switched dentists. Fast forward 20 years when I turned 30 one of the fillings I had fell out and my regular dentist was busy, so my mother booked me in with Dr. Bentham. She has a poor memory and obviously didn't recall the fact Bentham had destroyed my teeth 20 years earlier. I didn't either until my new experience triggered the old memories. When I went in there to get my filling repaired he told me I may end up needing a root canal. Judging by his tone and delivery, I felt like he was setting it up so that next time I came in, that would happen. Only one year later I was eating a fruit snack at my sisters house and my filling came out. So, my mom called Bentham thinking he would repair his work for free. My mom phoned Bentham's office and the lady said we were in luck because a client just cancelled. When I was sitting in the chair and Bentham looked at my teeth he told me it was my fault and that I had cracked the filling myself. I would have remembered that. It did not happen. It was a rushed and careless job he did a year earlier and it took months for my tooth to stop hurting. I have no coverage and I just had a baby in January, so Bentham knew I was paying out of pocket. I casually mentioned to him that the bonding on my front teeth had started chipping and wanted a quote on how much it would cost to fix. Without my permission and an agreement of cost, he began to hurriedly "fix" the bonding on my six front teeth. To give you an idea of how hurried the entire job was, I had the filling replaced and, according to my bill, six teeth fixed, in a half an hour. He barely even worked on the under side of my teeth, just the outside. Because it was so hurriedly and half-heartedly done, I honestly didn't even think he would charge me for it. When I went to front desk after my appointment, I was shocked to see a bill for $540. The receptionist (who is an amazing person by the way) also looked shocked with the bill and reminded him I had no dental. He didn't care. $50 of that was for an "emergency appointment" (it wasn't an emergency) and $180 of that was for the six front teeth that he allegedly fixed; Teeth that are bothering me more as I type this than they were when I went in. The rest of the money went to replacing the filling he put in a year earlier. Also still bothering me. I am certain if he had had more time, he would have given me a root canal. This guy has been a crook as long as I have known him, I have reported him to the BC Dental Association, and I would really like a full investigation on him. The kicker of all of this is he told me that silver fillings cause Leukemia. He gave me silver fillings back in the day and now tells me he will take them out for me...for $1500.
