Ratings for Dr. Caren Craig
3.1
The best OB/GYN I ever had. Dr. Craig has always responded. She is every easy to talk to and discuss care plans with. She also pays attention to what is in the chart before I see her and what has been prescribed by my other physicians. I never felt rushed or anxious with her.
Completely useless staff. I have called at least 4 times over the course of 2 months to get my prescription refill sent to my pharmacy, and it still has not been sent. Every time I call I am told by the receptionist that she will “send the request to Dr. Craig right away” and that it should take about 2 days to be filled by my pharmacy. This was months ago at this point, and nothing has been sent to my pharmacy. I’m not sure if she’s incompetent or if Dr. Craig is, but I have been without my prescription for months now because someone there does not know how to do their job. Don’t go here.
I went to see Dr. Craig because of bad previous encounters with other MD's and Dr. Craig was no different. She told me my birth control leads to death causing stroke and PE, but wasn't worried enough to get me on something better than what I had before I left. She is extremely condescending and passive aggressive. I'm looking for a GYN who I can confide in and trust. Do not go see Dr. Craig if this is important to you. I arrived an hour early as her first appt just to address my concerns and I was still rushed out. It's disheartening and worrisome, but I'll just have to keep looking for the right one.
Dr.Craig has been my gyn for about 22 years she is great. She takes care of my daughters and I with such grace and and care. She treats us like family. I love her very much. Thank you for all you do.
I was referred to Dr. Craig for fibroids. Her office is very small which is both good and bad. If you're used to an office with multiple front desk staff, PAs, etc...it can be a little frustrating with being on hold for a bit and wait times for appointments however I haven't found this to be too problematic. Dr. Craig provided me with very detailed information including meeting with me to answer my pages of questions about surgical options. She reviewed all of my options and offered resources where I could also do my own research. Her office completed all of the necessary FMLA paperwork in a very timely manner. Dr. Craig also performed my hysteractomy and my experience has been excellent. The surgery went smoothly and my recovery has been going well. So far I've had two follow up appointments where, again, Dr. Craig answered my multiple questions. Like most doctors, she's very busy which can make some visits feel rushed but she is approachable, knowledgeable and has made what could have been a terrible experience much better
My very first visit with Dr Craig we waited over a hour to be seen. I asked her would the future visits be this way. She explained she makes time for all her patients so when her patients are having troubles they come directly to her oppose to going to labor and delivery. Well every issue I’ve ever had Dr. Craig advised me to go directly to L&D. Every appointment I’ve had i waited over a hour to be seen, and for her to have little to no conversation with me and send me on my way. What made me switch doctors was when I was getting a rash on my chest, she asked if my animals have fleas (I don’t have any animals) and never asked me any other questions. I went to a dermatologist who took a biopsy and advised me I have hives from the OTC prenatal vitamins. I called her office 3 days straight left numerous of messages. It took me to leave a message on the my chart for an assistant to tell me (dr Craig said to google foods with high iron and take them every day, don’t take anymore of the vitamins.) She never called to follow up with me, never made an attempt to asked how things was going. So I changed doctors and went to Capital Women, I’ve never been more happier. They’re very personal and actually care about the heath and wellness of you and your baby. NEVER Never chose her as your doctor.
I would never ever ever recommend Dr Caren Craig or GBMC to anyone to handle you during carrying or delivering a baby. The first red flag I recieved from Caren Craig was when I told her that I think I had a bacterial infection around the beginning of my third trimester. I found out two months later that the results came back positive but she never notified me or prescribed me anything to take care of it. When I brought it to her attention she down played it and basically said it’s my responsibility to look at the charts on an app that they try to encourage all patients to sign up for. The issue with the app is it is not made mandatory from the very beginning and a lot of the information in the app is not easy to understand and coded in Dr. language. No matter what the doctor should always communicate with the patient what exactly certain things mean and never leave it on the hands of the patient. I was really upset about the lack of care and communication and I wanted to switch doctors but felt that it was a little late in my pregnancy so I stuck with Caren. The ultimate disappointment came Yesterday 5/15/19, when my water broke around 3 pm. I immediately called Dr Caren Craig’s office. The receptionist told me that Craig was with a patient and she would have her call me back. I proceeded to GBMCs labor and delivery. The nurses there seemed to think that my pants being soak and wet and the consistent flow of amniotic fluids running down my leg was a false alarm. They told me my water was not broke, membranes we’re not ruptured and the fluids leaking from my body was probably just discharge from untreated bacterial infection. They did not monitor me they proceeded to discharge me within 30 minutes of entry. At this point hours had passed since my first attempt to contact Caren and still no response from her so I called again. Since it was after office hours I reached the after hours emergency operator and they said they would get in contact with her and have her call me. At this point I was scared because my body was still releasing a tremendous amount of fluid and I knew that was not normal. My mother insisted that I check myself into another hospital to get a second opinion. I decided to go to Mercy Medical because I had a decent experience with them having my first child. I got there, they checked me, told my my water did indeed break and that they were going to admit me. Long story short I ended up having labor pains around 1:30 am and delivering my baby boy within 1 hour. It is now 5:30 pm on 5/16/19 and I still have not heard anything from Caren Craig or anyone in the Dr.s office. Thank God for the Metro group at Mercy Medical. They picked up the slack and helped me deliver a healthy baby boy. Do yourself a favor and never use Dr. Caren Craig or GBMC to care for your life and deliver your baby. They are simply running an assembly line and you are just a number. I hope this helps someone!
Poor patient care. I work in healthcare and have never seen staff treat patients the way this office does.
Poor patient care from her staff. Getting in touch with anyone at that office is next to impossible and forget anyone actually calling you back.
I have been a patient with Dr. Craig for over 20 years. When I was encountering infertility - there was no other doctor who cared more about my situation. I was hesitant to meet with a fertility clinic so Dr. Craig offered me various options within her care. Though the attempts were unsuccessful and I did end up seeing a fertility specialist - I will never forget Dr. Craig's compassion and understanding of my condition. I have stayed a loyal patient and trust her completely with my gyn care. I highly recommend Dr. Craig for her professionalism and caring.
