Ratings for Dr. George Kaptain
4.6
My wife was diagnosed with brain cancer. One side effect was a build-up of fluid in her brain. Dr Kaptain inserted a shunt in her skull that helped drain the fluid and get her back to "normalcy." Prior to the operation he explained the pros/cons of the operation and what to expect. His analysis was right on and his performance was exemplary. The follow-up visit was informative and helpful. Dr. Kaptain's "bedside manner" is first rate. My family and I highly recommend him.
I don't think that 5 stars adequately reflect how highly I think of Dr. George Kaptain, a neurosurgeon at North Jersey Brain and Spine. After living with debilitating pain for many years, Dr. Kaptain made me hopeful that my condition could be corrected with surgery. During our consultation, his kindness, compassion, and empathy put me completely at ease. He patiently explained the available 3 options and their potential for correcting my problem. We looked together at my scan so that I could visualize why surgery could be my best option for success, and I was completely comfortable choosing surgery. On the day of my surgery, i was confident, because he had already thoroughly described what would happen before, during, and after surgery. Also, Dr. Kaptain's warm and caring personality inspired trust, and I felt safe in his care. I cannot adequately express how grateful I am that his expertise and skill resulted in the best possible outcome. The minute I woke-up from surgery, I knew the pain was gone. My in-patient recovery was also the best possible in every way. I will always be grateful to Dr. Kaptain and his supporting team for a life-changing experience. Tricia D-S
Dr kaptain and his team are caring and professional. They go out of their way to deliver exceptional care.
Dr. Kaptain recently has performed two separate procedures on my husband. He accommodated him immediately in both and we appreciate that he let us know that he had my husband in his best interest. So grateful for his exceptional care and compassion to improve my husband’s health and well-being. Dr. Kaptain provided his cell phone number to text with questions or concerns, and he responded quickly to us reaching out to him. We were confident in his extreme knowledge. We want to acknowledge that he reached out to know my husband, our family, and showed interest in what was important to have my husband regain his health and strength to go back to his normal active life. Dr. Kaptain is the doctor you want in your corner, fighting for the best care and outcome for your health. We are so grateful for this EXCEPTIONAL DOCTOR!
Nothing short of amazing. George Kaptian and his associates are amazing, in both medicine and personal attendance and human compassion. From initial visit, through to after care, I am grateful to have been recommended to this practice. He listens attentively, asks great questions, provides complete insight into what the issue at hand is. After my mom (80 years old) was diagnosed with a meningioma on her brain, potentially impacting her eyesight, we consulted with Doctor Kaptian. He took us through what this meant in terms of impact to vision, and quality of life. He was not so urgent to perform surgery (as many doctors can be prone to). He suggested a wait and see attitude, monitoring over time (which subsequent MRI scans) to gauge growth. This built great confidence in his approach to practicing medicine. About a year later, we were back to visit, for a separate concern. After initially feeling some sensation causing tingling and numbness in her right leg she quickly deteriorated. A post thanksgiving visit diagnosed here again with a meningioma in her spine, pushing up against her spinal cord. This happened so quickly, to where she was no longer able to drive, or walk without a cane. After a visit to Doctor Kaptian, and his assessment, both visual, in evaluating her gait, the MRI’s, and her reflexes, he offered us enough information, again not urging for surgery, but pragmatically guiding us to make our own decision. Surgery was a success, performed at Hackensack Medical, and recovery began. We are very fortunate to have had such a great experience with such a delicate surgery and to have Doctor Kaptian as our neurosurgeon. I can not thank him and his staff, and the wonderful people at Hackensack Medical for their kindness, thoughtfulness, professionalism, bedside manor, and talent.
Dr. Kaptain performed surgery on our son to remove a pituitary tumor. You can imagine all of the fears you feel, but his genuine caring, and the time Dr. Kaptain took to explain and answer questions made us feel we chose the right surgeon. We are grateful and happy to say that our son is recovering and doing very well. "Thank you" just doesn't seem to be enough, we are forever thankful to him. Dr. Kaptain's staff are also wonderful and professional. They are very helpful and always pleasant. We would recommend Dr. Kaptain and his team very highly and without hesitation.
My husband has had melanoma for almost 2 years and it recently traveled to his brain. After procedures and chemo drugs to halt its growth, it suddenly began to grow again. Dr. Kaptain and the entire Tumor Team at the John Theurer Cancer Center met and decided it has to be removed. He performed the very intricate brain surgery about 10 days ago and everything worked perfectly. He is highly professional, explains all details to us and calls often to show how he cares. My husband is healing very well and we are so grateful that our journey brought us to Dr. Kaptain. I would recommend him to anyone needing this type of sub-specialty expertise. Thank you from our children, grandchildren and us!
Dr. Kaptain has helped my family and I get our mother back! With his expertise and kindness, my mother now has a JP Shunt and is on her way to being able to do normal life functions again. Very happy and would recommend Dr. Kaptain. Nicole R.
Dr. George Kaptain misdiagnosed me as having a brain tumor(I had a MS lesion). Then went into CYA mode. I wouldn't let this A-HOLE with a god complex operate on a steak. Messed up my life due to a known unnecessary operation. Used scare tactics to discourage a 2nd opinion. Made surgery seem like time sensitive life & death situation. Withheld results for 2 weeks & summons me to the cancer center to inform me I never had a brain tumor. Now my right arm, hand & leg are useless. He stated "I'm a brain surgeon, I only work on brain tumors" .Yet this moron didn't even know the difference between MS (which would have been treatable) and a brain tumor. I would suggest anyone seeing this so called doctor GET A SECOND OPINION before letting this butcher go in your head!!!
Excellent doctor in every way. Very knowledgeable and very friendly...
