With a serious family history of female-related cancer issues, I decided to be tested for the Brca gene... which came back as positive. I am still relatively young, (30)... however I have a young son depending on me for love and support. It is important that I am there for him... and that is why I made the difficult choice to undergo a double mastectomy. It was emotionally devastating, however my son is worth it! The surgeon who was initially scheduled to perform the reconstruction, opted to no longer accept my insurance. I contacted my provider, and was referred to Dr. Halls. Last week my sister, who is 18 months my senior, was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer... which had metastasized to her lungs and liver. I am in a state of shock, and my husband and I had planned to expand our family to include two children. I had planned to undergo the reconstructive surgery this month, and with any luck... be with-child by Spring. I called Dr. Hall's office to set up an appointment, because in light of recent events... time is clearly a factor. I received a return call, in response to my initial attempt to establish an appointment and proactively deal with the issue at hand. I was told Dr. Halls does not perform surgeries on individuals who have been operated on previously... a statement in complete contrast to online reviews by \"alleged patients.\" With the plan being to have a second child, my husband and I decided that a complete hysterectomy would be a proactive step to ensure my health, as well as the wife and mother of my family. The reconstruction must take place prior to a pregnancy, be allowed enough to heal and sustain a pregnancy to term, and will be followed by the hysterectomy... as soon as I am physically able. The concept that Dr. Halls' office staff, or perhaps Dr. Halls himself, is delaying or denying these necessary, life-saving procedures is both shameful and appalling! I am posting my personal experience, in the hope that other potential patients be made aware of the callous nature that Dr. Halls' has established as a means of providing (or rather NOT providing) the care necessary and required to maintain the emotional and physical health of his patients.
