Ratings for Dr. Loretta Pilagin
I would like to have all positive comments about Doctor Pilagin but I can't. I’m sure there are those that would tell me that if I’m that unhappy with Dr. Pilagin, then I should get another Doctor. I have State Insurance and anyone that has it knows it’s difficult to find Doctors that take it. I also have Chronic Pain from Degenerating Disk Disease and need pain medication which is why my back is so bad. Because so many people abuse pain medication, Doctors don’t like to prescribe it which I understand but is also why my back is the way it is today. Doctor Pilagin does give me pain medication ‘to an extent’, not enough so I can function day to day doing simple things like housework, although I do vacuum if I sit on the floor, but it’s enough so I can ‘tolerate’ the pain and if that means I spend most of my day sitting, that’s good enough for her. I suffer from PTSD and that seems to be a big issue with her as she seems to have problem with it, or should I say with people having ‘emotional’ problems. It’s nothing I want either but things happened to me and I do. I’ve was in therapy and group counseling for over 10 years and I understand my problems, she doesn’t want to know them, so she doesn’t understand or can‘t. When my Mother was dying from Cancer I wanted to be able to spend as much time with her as I could, as anyone would that loved their Mother. Problem was my Mother lived in North Carolina. When I asked Doctor Pilagin if she could write me an extra script for my pain medication so I could drive down with my brother to be with her. She flat out said “No.”. I would have to drive back to Connecticut, see her for another prescription and drive back to be with my Mother. Needless to say, when I did get to see my Mother again it was in a coffin at her Wake here in Connecticut. I’ve never known anyone to be as cold hearted and unsympathetic as she was! When I told her of this I cried and she told me “When you’re done crying I’ll be back in.” and left the room. She has also said to me: “In a few months you’ll forget your Mother.” and “If you’re going to cry, I can’t see you.” It’s been over a year and I still cry over my Mother and I’m still hurt Doctor Pilagin wouldn’t let me be with her when she was dying. Of course I could have, if I wanted to be in constant pain, miserable and bed ridden. Months later Doctor Pilagin gave me an extra prescription for my pain medication saying she was going to start doing this because she could ‘trust me with a second script‘. It was Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Two months later it was back to seeing her every month. The following year, on the ‘same month’ she again gave me two prescriptions telling me it was because she was going on ‘vacation’! It had ‘nothing’ to do with ‘trusting me’ as she told me the year before. I’m sure it had something to do with not giving me an extra script to see my Mother but can when it was her vacation time. Which she still doesn’t understand why I’m upset over what I am. Of course she’s always telling me to seek the help of a Psychiatrist. Prior to getting her as my Doctor I was homeless and living in MA., a Doctor there, who Doctor Pilagin said she was related to, had me see another Doctor that performed nasal surgery that wasn’t requested to be done by the other Doctor I saw. It has since caused me Post Nasal Drip that has caused lung infections and I now have breathing problems. Instead of addressing the problem, which would be admitting another Doctor messed up, Doctor Pilagin says I have COPD. I need an inhaler to breath throughout the day because the ’nasal drip’ gets into my air way and I can’t breath. I need to have a referral to get this problem fixed but Doctor Pilagin just ignores me when I bring it up. I also have a weight problem. I’m severely under weight. 75 pounds to be exact. Doctor Pilagin has decided to decrease my pain medication. I don’t see how that’s going to help and feel she’s punishing me more than anything. I know why I don’t eat but she won’t listen except with telling me to “see a Psychiatrist’. I was having sever pain in my lower abdomen for several months now which I told her about. She touched a few areas and told me what it was ‘scar tissue’ from when I had a hysterectomy over 30 years ago that ‘just now’ is causing me excruciating pain? I’ll deal with her until I can find another Doctor but I really don’t think she’s all that great. Her bed side manner is horrible and I feel I should apologize to her for having the medical issues I have as well as emotional ones. Which she clearly can’t handle!
Dr. Pilagin is the best Doctor I've ever been to see. I would recommend her to anyone looking for medical help. She has diagnosed quite a few ailments for me, and has never charged me for anything that wasn't 100% necessary. Also, the cost for a visit is always very reasonable.
An overall nice, personable, and friendly doctor. However, Dr. Pilagin has trouble diagnosing simple problems. This doctor has misdiagnosed my daughter several times. First Ds. was finger's infection. Several times she cleaned the infection, prescribed antibiotics, that did not work and 6 months later she tells me (laughing) now I know what Ds. your daughter has. She has a 100% fungus infection and I need 3 more months to treat the fungus infection and shows me a note from med. magazine. I asked her if blood test can show that. She answers yes and my daughter goes to make the blood work. Next week we had dermatologist appointment (Somebody referral my daughter there but not Dr. Pilagin) and there were 2 doctors who told us it's 100% not fungus infection. And 5 weeks later a got a Dr Pilagin message: Blood work shows there is no any fungus infection there. So I do not know what to do next. If you want to waste lots of money like I did, go to schedule an appointments with the Dr.Pilagin.
staff is awful mailed me the wrong records (not mine) when i called they did not care. then when they needed to send my records to the special doc the sent a mix of mine and someone elses. reported this to doc she did not seem to care. it is the staff i had a prob with
As an RN and patient of Dr. Pilagin's, I'd huge her a huge recommendation. I'm a young and healthy women, but when I have had health problems, she was never dismissive and responded with not only empathy and kindness, but the appropriate diagnostic tools for the situation.
