Biography

Reena Tahilramani, MD, is a general surgeon specializing in colon and rectal surgery. She treats conditions of the lower gastrointestinal tract which includes your colon, rectum, and anus. She performs an extensive spectrum of procedures that include bowel resection (for colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn's and ulcerative colitis), colonoscopies, anal surgery (for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulas, warts, abscess) as well as treatment for rectal prolapse and fecal incontinence (placement of sacral nerve stimulators). She specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgery.“Since I was a little girl, all I wanted to be was a doctor,” she says. “I made up mind as a child and never considered any other profession.”Dr. Tahilramani earned her medical degree from Virgina Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. After medical school, she completed a residency at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. She followed that with fellowships at The University of Texas Medical School and the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando, Fla.“I feel like surgery is a partnership between a patient and their physician,” she says. “Having the opportunity to make an immediately visible difference in someone's life is very gratifying and inspires me to continue working hard to care for my patients.”She’s most proud of “seeing someone walk out of my office satisfied that they have received the best care possible.”Dr. Tahilramani is an accomplished presenter and has been published in numerous medical journals.
