Ratings for Dr. Wayne Clairborne
In April of 2000, I met Dr. Clairborne unexpectedly at Women & Infants Hospital after it became necessary for the labor and delivery of my youngest child to be induced two weeks early after a difficult and complicated pregnancy. For the nearly 24 hours it took to bring that child into this world, this man I'd never met before put me at ease and showed me the respect and consideration I'd honestly thought couldn't be found anywhere any more. He brought us both safely through that experience and has given me great care since then with wit and wisdom and a generous heart. I know he'll be retiring soon, if I haven't missed it already, and I am not looking forward to finding a new ob-gyn. I want to clarify that while I frequently was kept waiting a half hour or more for my appointments, I fully understood the delays and that when he entered the room for my exam, he was never hurried nor did he ever appear distracted. His focus was always on whomever he was speaking with. I can never recall regretting having waited to be seen and I never recall having a wasted visit. Regarding the staff, the assistants themselves were fine in-person but the management of the office left a lot to be desired in my opinion. The majority of encounters I've had to have with the office have been fraught with frustration and even incompetence except when I have been standing at the window, in the office. I have had to go into the office in-person in order to schedule appointments because the phones are so poorly managed. For awhile patients were supposed to be able to schedule appointments online. That experience was maddening at best. I continue to hope for the best that the practice will get some competent office management but it may well be too late for that as they seem to be expanding relentlessly. I don't know how it will work out. Perhaps when Dr. Clairborne retires, I will switch practices completely. His talent and bedside manner will be sorely missed.
I was referred to Dr. Clairborne in an emergency situation while away from my home state and couldn't have been happier. He put me at ease and patiently answered all my questions when I was anxious. I even came back to RI to have my surgery because I was so impressed with him. He is everything all the other reviewers mentioned - patient, kind, knowledgeable, caring, dynamic, skilled and has a good sense of humor. I'm thinking of making him my regular GYN even though I live 400 miles away!
This is long overdue, but Dr. Clairborne is by far the best doctor I ever had. He was very empathetic, knowledgeable and kind. Wonderful, old-fashioned "bedside manner." He assisted me through several medical issues with the same care given as the first. I would (and do) refer him to everyone I know. This will show my age - but who cares - Drs. Kildaire and Welby would be proud!! Have a wonderful day.
