Dr. Capella performed a lower body lift and a breast lift on me about 7 months ago. He was so informative, kind, realistic and most importantly honest. From his pricing to his opinions about how he would perform my surgery- he approached each meeting thoughtfully and listened to my opinions as well. In the end, my body looks incredible. My breast lift looks like Barbie doll breasts in the best way and my lower body lift with tummy tuck looks natural. My belly button is beautiful. His pie crust suturing style is very jarring at first but my scars are so fine that the Frankenstein look of the first week or two was soon forgotten. I was quoted over 70k for the same combo of procedures by two nyc surgeons. Capella charged nowhere near that number and his results on me far exceeded anything I saw the other surgeons perform in their before and afters. His prices are so reasonable and his bedside manner is warm and reassuring. His staff are so easy to communicate with - If you are trying to decide on a surgeon choose him. You will not regret it! He was the best choice I could have made. I could not be happier.

This surgeon caused irreparable damage to my body. He told me one thing before surgery, and something completely different after the surgery had been done. He did not take proper measures to preserve my inframmamary fold which caused catastrophic issues to occur that other surgeons have stated cannot be corrected. Another surgeon had equated my results as being similar to that of a 3rd world surgery. Yet Dr. Capella stated I had excellent results. It sickens me that any surgeon could do this to a patient. He claimed I did not need muscle repair and later I was told I did have a large separation and did need muscle repair. Now too much skin has been removed and more surgery would cause even further issues for me so repair now is not advised. Dr. Capella told me he pulled me "extra tight" during surgery, which actually caused damage to the tissue and loss of range of motion. I had a complete drainage failure after my surgery and Dr. Capella had me wait and come in the next day to deal with it. He stitched all the drains in my fresh incision without the use of gloves and without freezing me despite me telling him he was hurting me. He behaved with absolute disregard to my feelings as a patient. I was left with a seroma due to fluid build up in the lower abdomen. He then inserted a drain at my last visit and instructed me to remove it myself. I did everything he told me and I am still left with fluid trapped in the area and the abdominal tissue not adhering due to the fluid. The piecrust suture style caused hypertrophic scarring on the arms. The armpit areas have spread tissue paper thin and range of motion is very limited. Necrosis developed along the piecrust area on the breasts, which led to open wounds and scarring. All the hard work to get to where I was and all the money spent on skin removal surgery and now I live disfigured and without a surgeon. When I emailed him requesting truthful medical information about the condition I was left in, Dr. Capella sent a letter of termination. So much damage was done to my body. I wish I had known the truth about this surgeon before trusting him. The damage done runs much deeper than just the physical aspects. I have never felt violated on a level like this before.

Surgery was unsuccessful. Large portions of the skin was not removed. Scars are permanently dark, thick, and wide. Severe nerve damage has caused numbness in large sections around and below the waist. Help was not offered to find the cause of the damage, nor a way to treat it. The agreement on a specific anesthesiologist was reneged. Results: depression, anxiety, scars, numbness, and lack of confidence.

I thoroughly researched brachioplasty experts, and was willing to travel anywhere in the US for the best care. I scoured many doctor’s websites & the vast majority did not have any photos of arm lifts they personally performed; Dr. Capella’s website had in excess of 100. Prior to meeting Dr. C, I went for several consultations, w/ high profile, accomplished surgeons. I wanted to hear multiple opinions before making such a big decision. I left every appointment with one reservation or another. I did not want a plastic surgeon who “does some arm lifts” but hundreds of breasts and noses. I wanted someone who had done hundreds of arms. My last consultation appointment was with Dr. Capella. I scheduled the appointment with the assistance of his office manager, Kerry, who was kind and accommodating. From the moment I met Dr. Capella, I was impressed and he immediately made me feel comfortable. He has a very calming presence. We sat in his office to talk first and then an exam followed. He spent as much time as I needed, & gathered information about my history, concerns and expectations. He showed me photos of his work, explained the details of the procedure & answered all of my questions (I had many). When I shared with him the opinions of other surgeons I saw, regarding how they would approach the surgery (lipo as one procedure; skin removal as a 2nd procedure), he listened and shared with me why he does things the way that he does. His ego did not appear to be threatened by my questions or by the fact that I went for several consultations. Some doctors get impatient or defensive when questioned, but not Dr. C. He was open, relatable, approachable and transparent. He shared with me how his methods have morphed over the years and how experience brought him there. There is NO teacher like experience, and he has tons. For example, his suture style is different than many other doctors, but once he explained WHY he closes incisions in a unique way, it made perfect sense (and now at 5 wpo, I am thrilled with the scar so far). He made me feel comfortable in the exam room, & inspected my scars from previous surgeries so he and I could realistically predict how my scar might heal. He also spoke to me about risks, how he handles complications & how he handles revisions. He was quite confident in a favorable result but was honest and did not make empty promises of perfection. It felt right & I picked a date. On the day of surgery, I reported to the hospital. I was happy that Dr. Capella performs this procedure in a high ranked hospital setting. Everyone I interacted with at the facility was friendly, welcoming and understanding. I felt relaxed, knowing that Dr. Capella’s operating room assistant, Scott, has been working with Dr.C for many years. Dr. Capella also rotates between several anesthesiologists with whom he shares a relationship. I did not want him to meet his team that morning for the first time. I wanted them to have a history of successfully working together, which they did. I told Dr. C that I did not want any residents to work on me or to be present. I only wanted him performing the procedure. He assured me that he would be the only doctor working on me. The anesthesiologist introduced herself to me and we spoke at length about what I should expect. She was wonderful. After the surgery, I spent several hours in recovery, and the nurses were excellent. They were attentive & helped with whatever I needed. I knew I was in good hands from arrival to discharge. Post-surgery, I have been healing well. While recovery has been a little more difficult than I anticipated, I am making progress each day. I was most surprised by how long it has taken me to do things independently, but I am also the cautious type. I have had several questions over the past five weeks, and Dr. Capella has answered every one of them. He and his office are so responsive to every concern. I send him photos weekly so that he can look at my incision and let me know what is normal, and why things are happening as they are. He and his staff never make me feel like a bother and get back to me quickly (even once on a Saturday night). Aftercare is as important to me as surgical skill, and I have received the best aftercare. Dr. Capella and his staff are as invested in my result and I am. He wants his patients to feel good and look good. While It is too early in my recovery to know what my final results will be, I am confident that Dr. Capella will make sure I am healthy and satisfied with the aesthetics. I wish I had gone to Dr. Capella before I had excess skin removal surgeries by another surgeon. In my opinion, a general plastic surgeon doesn't fully understand what is necessary to repair the damage caused by losing a massive amount of weight after obesity. A specialist in this area of plastic surgery is imperative when you are looking for the best results. After losing 300 pounds, Dr. Capella's expertise allowed all of my hard work to show. I couldn't be happier with my results after he performed a lower body lift, thigh and breast lifts. I have to travel to see him but it is well worth the expense, time and effort when you want the very best care. Dr. Capella is patient, kind and understanding. His PA, Scott, along with Kerry and Macey in the office are all top notch at their jobs and the entire team makes you feel at ease. I went to Dr. Capella to fix up some bad work I had done on my tummy and thighs. He did a complete tummy tuck and medial thigh lift. I was very pleased with the results. I had had bad lipo on my thighs so there were still some minor irregularities but he stood behind his work and revised them at no charge. I couldn’t believe it. He truly stands behind his work. Dr. Capella and his PA Scott couldn’t be more gentle and calming. They are the best at what they do yet are so humble and will answer any questions you have. If I sent an email he would get back to me often within the hour. What other doctor does that? Kerry, who runs the office, is great and I came from CT so it is not so easy for me to get down there and they were incredible about accommodating me. They also are always on time which I appreciate since it’s quite the trek for me. For the first time in my life my inner thighs don’t rub together and chafe and just make me feel fat and gross. I might have scars but that pales in comparison to looking and feeling more comfortable in all the clothes I wear! Highly recommend.

I went to dr Capella for a body lift to fix the horrible results had by a different surgeon. I was immediately comfortable with Dr Capella's warm demeanor, emanating his genuine desire to help others. He patiently answered all of my questions, and never once become agitated or annoyed.
