Five times, and I am not exaggerating, I've had to tell him or his staff that I no longer have my gallbladder. This info is in my chart. Before my colonoscopy, he asked if labs were done. This tells me that he did not check my results before my procedure. When I woke from recovery after a colonoscopy the nurse told me that he thought it was gallbladder issues. He did not recognize me before my procedure. Instead he yelled out my name in a hall filled with GI patients separated by only curtains. I had complications after the procedure and he sent me for labs that he had already performed. He sent me to another physician for these complications instead of seeing me himself. As a healthcare professional myself, I do not recommend anyone see this physician. He does not check history or listen to his patients. I will never see him again. I will say his nurse was very thorough and helpful.

Dr. Mazanec does not have the communication skills needed to keep the patient up-to-date on their progress. He orders tests and then wants to order more tests without a completely explaining the first round of tests and their results. As a patient you feel more like a lab rat that has no say in your treatment or diagnosis. During a visit to the ER I learned that he failed to order a very simple and routine test for me in the beginning of the diagnosis process. The ER Dr was surprised as was the GI Assoc Dr on call that day. Not a confidence builder. My favorite moment is when I questioned the need/reason for a colonoscopy, a nurse told me that Mazanec said I had originally requested it. I did not request a colonoscopy to address my gallbladder issues. His nurse Karen could learn a thing or two also. She does not express much interest in your concerns either. What a team they make! God help his patients if they want to take an interest in their healthcare.

The office staff is the absolute worst for scheduling appointments and returning calls. I tried for over a week to schedule a follow-up appointment and was told the schedulers would call when they could get to me - Which they never did even though I re-tried numerous times. This office has no concern for patients, and seemingly lack of interest in addressing patient issues. Dr. Mazanec informed me I had a pre-cancerous condition but did not inform me of diet restricitions, and lifestyle changes I needed to make - Only by self research did I learn I had a serious condition. Dr. Mazanec told me just to take a prescription he gave me and see him later for follow-up surgery! I felt like I was just a number to him and a surgical fee.

Very knowledgeable and highly recommended. Friendly and always remembers me when I come in. He did a very good job with my colonoscopy, completely smooth sailing.

He does test but then does nothing with them. My husband had to go into the hospital for fluid overload, he called in a kidney consultant who recommended dialysis but then the dr. never told him that it had been recommended. I found out when I paid to get his records after my husband died.

About all he did was order some blood test and a few x-rays. He doesn't listen to you. Doesn't take your condition serious. He only spends like 5 min with you and says see you in 3 months.
