best surgeon around... a life changing experience, after becoming a patient.

Excellent doctor. Took the time to listen and is very kind and caring.

I am in my 33rd week of pregnancy. And Dr. Metherell has be my obgyn throughout. When first arriving you do realize that all of highlands staff is really rude and on occasion receive the 1 lady on the entire office who treats you like a person. After waiting for never less than 30-45 mins in the waiting room. You have to go stand in the hallway for the nurse to take your vitals. The when she is thru you are again left in another hallway until Dr. Metherells cigarette smoke smelling nurse comes out to get you. After waiting in there unairconditioned room for an additional 30-45 mins metherell finally comes in to where he has never done anything but listen to the babies heartbeat. I have been a diabetic since I was a teenager and he diagnosed me with gestational diabetes which has caused me a lot of issues trying to re explain to every specialist that I had it before I was pregnant. He finally came out and told me he couldn't help me and that I needed to be referred to a specialist because he didn't know how to treat me. And just to keep producing him with 6 times a day logs of what I had eaten and what my sugars were. One night my glucose had doubled and I got really scared about it and called to the hospital because highlands phones DO NOT work EVER! The hospital had the dr on call call me back And she told me to keep writing down on paper my logs that this would help later. She was extremely rude I told her thank you for her time and hung up. The next day Dr. Metherell came in to the office and treated my husband and I like we were uneducated teenagers because we called to the hospital for some advice and the hospital had to contact them vs us going through their automated worthless system. he literally told us he doesn't know why I have such bad sugar problems but that he was my primary not my specialist and that ultimately he's the decision maker. But then couldn't even tell me what medicines the specialist put me on. On what their diagnosis was. Which by the way did not meet his diagnosis. Later that week I received certified mail that states he wishes to no longer be my dr and that I have to go elsewhere for healthcare at 33 weeks pregnant. I finally looked at their reviews confused as to why they would do something so life threatening and risk taking to a high risk pregnancy and come to find out the have done this to numerous women. And left them with no dr at the last minute. Now they are demanding full payment like they delivered our son. And stating they will take it to collections if we don't pay. Dr metherell has never even performed a papsmear exam on me and I'm 33 weeks. I find this really even more odd as I am labeled as a high risk patient . I've never dealt with anyone like this in my life. I couldn't believe how much of a coward this man is. And it just isn't him from what I know now. It's all of the staff there. If you want a dr who drops you at the last minute of youth pregnancy and you are stuck searching for a brand new within the last few weeks you should be a patient here. If you don't mind your baby and health I being if high risk you should come here. And if you love to be patronized and treated like a welfare patient every time you walk through the door this is your place. If I could give these people less than a 1 star review I would.

Dr. Metherell delivered our third child and he is the best doctor I've ever had. I recently saw him for a routine GYN checkup and he was just as compassionate and kind as he was when he was my OB. I highly recommend him if you're looking for the best of the best!

Dr. Metherell delivered our third child shortly after we moved to Greenville and he has the best personality of any doctor I've ever had. I've sent a few of my friends to him and they also think he's wonderful.
