Ratings for Dr. R. Trent McKay
I wasn't having a lot of pain, but they did an xray, then a ultrasound. Dr. Mckay let me make the decision for surgery, so I decided to before I got any older and they wouldn't do the surgery as of age. So glad I did for when he went in all kinds of problems that he had to fix. Doing good now and very pleased I was referred to a good doctor. Wonderful....
I have been seeing Dr. McKay for a few years and have had to have a few shoulder surgeries. I was so lucky to have been referred to him for my shoulder conditions. I can't explain how much pain I had been in before finally being diagnosed an surgically repaired. With my condition(s), I will be seeing Dr. McKay for quite some time but I would not want anyone else to treat me. He takes the time to listen and treat me as a priority at my appointments. He is the best and did refer a friend of mine to him. She was diagnosed, had surgery and is doing spectacular! I have and will continue to refer anyone to him.
During 3 visits to McKay's office I have waited over an hour(past my appointment time) to be seen each time. I had a serious injury to my knee several months ago and had an MRI. The image did not show an obvious injury, but showed fraying behind the knee cap. On 1st visit McKay stated he believed I had a torn meniscus but recommended PT. 2nd visit was a steroid injection with more PT gearing up for possible surgery. 3rd visit, McKay acted as though I had a phantom injury and stated that my insurance would not cover a "exploratory surgery". McKay told me that my injury is in my head and that my knee collapsing on me 3 separate times now causing me to fall is also in my head. I am a healthy, very active person and have NEVER had ANY issues with my knee prior to this injury. I left McKay's office with NO idea what just happened or what has happened to my knee. I am seeing a new Orthopedic Specialist and will keep you posted. I would NOT recommend Dr. Trent McKay to anyone. After what just happened in his office, there is NO WAY I would trust him to cut into my body or preform any type of surgery for me. Please use extreme caution if you choose to be seen by him.
McKay removed ossicles and shaved some bone down in my knee that was contributing to quite a bit of my knee pain. I didn't realize how much until after surgery , recovery, and rehab. My knee feels excellent and I have returned to full activity (soccer). I would recommend him for surgery. Nice, effective, knowledgable and gets right to the point.
I cannot say enough good things about this surgeon. My general practitioner recommended him as the best doc for shoulders around. I had issues with a biceps tendon coming out of the groove by my shoulder, a torn rotator cuff, and arthritis in my AC joint. He fixed all by cutting my biceps tendon, shaving off the end of my clavicle, and fixing my torn rotator cuff muscles. I am no longer having debilitating pain and ecstatic about my recovery. Back to full mobility and strength when I had been having pain for so long I didn't remember what it was like to be without it. Can't thank him enough for giving new life to this aging body.
After 2 visits with Dr McKay, I was very disappointed in the results. There was no solution given to heal my shoulder/back pain and he asked me what would I like to see done. I was dumbfounded thinking your the doctor, I want to know what are my options to have my mobility in my shoulder restored. After payint $1000 for 2 visits and taking valuable time off of work, I decided to travel to Renton to find a provided that would take the time to explain the pain I am experiencing and provide a remedy. So disappointed that I wasted time with Dr Mckay who is overbooked and unable to provide proper one on one care.
I had been having bothering shoulder pain for years. I finally got a recommendation to go see Dr. Mckay from a friend who had a great result with surgery from him. He took time with me and explained every aspect of the surgery with drawings beforehand and made me feel comfotable. He fixed a tear in my rotator cuff using only a scope and took out my AC joint completely relieving my AC joint arthritis. My shoulder is now pain-free and fully functional!
Dr.McKay had some big shoes to fill when Dr Partlow retired as I was a patient of his for over 32 years. Since Dr.McKay taking over my care it has been one medical challenge after another and Dr.McKay has gone above and beyond anything I could have imagined a Dr. Doing to the point of saving my life. ... just by simply listening to me as a person and not just another number walking in the door. He has always addressed every situation with the utmost compassion and professionalism anyone could ever want and or hope for in a Dr. .I would also have to give his nurse Kristen a huge piece of recognition because she is such a huge part of his great success in the office with all of his patient. I truly believe in front of every great Dr is one awesome nurse. .. Thank you Kristen And thank you Dr.McKay for taking such great care of me
This is a physician who not only listens, but actually hears what his patients are telling him and then reads between the lines before giving a diagnosis or treatment plan. Great follow up too - it is obvious Dr. McKay cares a lot about his patients.
