DR BRANIN'S STUPID ADVICE ALMOST GOT ME KILLED Dr Branin referred me to Peter Sarantos for a small inguinal hernia repair. Peter Sarantos is the biggest screwup and dishonest doctor I have ever encountered. I almost bled to death due to his surgical error. Sarantos cut blood vessels during the surgery. Sneaky Sarantos and his physician assistant Cynthia Anders PA-C came to my bedside after the surgery and told me a BS version of the surgery to keep the surgical error secret. It was a ruse. They betrayed my trust. It begs the question, how many other patients has sneaky Pete and Cindy been lying to?Their plan backfired. The damaged blood vessels ruptured when I got home from the surgery. I was rushed to NFRMC ED via ambulance for emergency surgery. I lost about 40% of my blood due to the internal hemorrhage. The blood in the pelvic cavity blocked the blood flow to my right leg and I developed a DVT. I have never felt so bad in my life. The anesthesiologist said I was lucky to survive. Sarantos and Anders continued telling lies to keep his surgical error secret. This time they said the hemorrhage was caused by a bleeding disorder. This is BS because I had surgeries at Shands and AGH and bleeding was never an issue. I have surgery with Sarantos at NFRMC and I almost bleed to death. The hematologist that managed my DVT spilled the beans about Sarantos and his lies. During an evaluation she stated " you do not have a bleeding disorder. Sarantos needs to watch what he cuts" I said" what do you mean?" Tracie:" Sarantos cut blood vessels and they ruptured, that is what caused the hemorrhage". I finally got the truth. Dr Branin should be aware of a surgeon's history before referring his patient for a surgical procedure. During my long recovery I discovered from a doctor rating site Sarantos injured another patient during a botched inguinal hernia surgery-just like me. In this case, Sarantos had the surgical mesh wrapped around the patient's spermatic cord. The patient complained of severe pain and Sarantos blew him off. Sarantos told the patient it was a pulled muscle. The patient required a second surgery and suffers with chronic pain from nerve damage. Bruce Branin's stupid advice almost got me killed. Sarantos is lucky I didn't die. Peter Sarantos should find a new career before he kills someone. These stupid doctors are dangerous.

Great Dr, great staff. I've been going to the practice for 15 years and have always received excellent service and care.

I've been going to his practice for at least the last 10 years. When Dr. Branin’s former (amazing) Physician's Assistant, Al Atero left, I began treating with Dr. Branin in mid-2013. Dr. Branin is not personable, has no patience, and comes into the office visit for 10-15 mins to say “hi and bye”, and the appointment is over. He literally wants to get you in and out as fast as he can. In my experience in dealing with him, he does not listen to his patient's problems/issues. He will not treat you for more than a single issue at a time "because of insurance purposes". He likes to bill insurance companies for separate issues, so he can get paid instead of helping his patients with their health issues. For example, not to long ago, I went in there for a medication refill, but was also sick (I had a fever, cough, sore throat, etc.). He literally told me to “come back tomorrow” to treat me for my illness instead of both refilling my medication and treating me for my fever at the same time. I begged and pleaded with him to please treat me for my fever, which he finally did, after I convinced him of how sick I really was. I should have known then that there was something wrong. I continued to go return for “treatment,” which was totally my mistake. I also finally released that he just pushes whatever new medication(s) he wants to push on his patients that the drug reps are pushing on him. I have been taking the same medication for years, and it has been working for me just fine—no side effects or issues whatsoever. I told him I did not want to change my medication. I gave into his “expertise” and tried to change my medication, and the side effects were horrible. I then refused to try anything new and told him I wanted to continue taking my regular medication. That made him angry, as I believe he thought I was being difficult and noncompliant. He kept insisting that “this new medication is better than the one you’re currently taking”. He then literally told me that "it's trial and error until we can figure out if it works or not". I saw a commercial on T.V. for one of the medication’s he wanted me “to try’” and it wasn’t even made to treat my current diagnosis. I'm a professional as well, and would never tell any of my clients that. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a general practice family physician TO NOT TREAT WITH DR. BRANIN. YOU WILL BE SORRY. I've always heard mixed reviews about him (mostly negative), and at my last appointment I released that the negatives certainly outweigh the positives, and will not go back to see him EVER again

The staff can be unpredictable, and go against their word. They can be rude and short on the phone. Husband was really sick and went in to see the dr. and nothing was done and then he ended up in the hospital 1 week later. Plus, this office does not like to address more than 1 issue at a time. People normally have more than 1 issue!! This office needs to be a little bit more accomadating.

Very informative and patient. Takes the time to listen and plan an approach for specific health care issues. Friendly and professional. Definitely cares about patients and their concerns. I have referred several family and friends to this practice, but specifically to Dr. Branin. All have been happy they changed from their doctors to him.
