Ratings for Dr. Ranjana Curtotti
My son has a serious medical condition. When we first arrived in Canberra we went to this clinic and not ONE doctor there, except Dr Curtotti, would administer his weekly medication by injection as our GP had done in Sydney. Once, when she had a day off, another doctor in the practice refused to treat my son...who was a Year 11 student at the time. I was astonished. So I recommend her highly. She also diagnosed my thryroid condition and recommended an excellent specialist, and she provides ongoing care. I like her direct and no nonsense manner. It works well for us and she has a sense of humour so I'm not sure what the criticisms are about that have appeared on this site. For both myself and my son - she has been a wonderful GP and I would recommend her highly.
I've had 4 appointements during early pregnancy and Dr Curtotti has only taken my blood pressure once and never volunteered any information unless I asked a specific question. I have found other doctors at the surgery to be a lot more proactive with their patient care.
I think she's okay. She tends to work at a pace but does listen and is tolerant of other views. She is client focused and not afraid to make hard calls, be decisive or give balanced advice to patients. She works better I have discovered if you can adjust to her faster pace that is probably why the previous poster thought she was 'dismissive'. I find being direct with her works best. If you have a particular issue or agenda, just 'blurt it out' and at least if she doesn't meet your expectations, she'll then know how your feeling and try to give you options. I know she is affiliated with the ANU medical school and so her knowledge of current research and practice is probably quite good. The 'Curtotti' family in this town are all fairly well regarded general practitioners.
She is nice but dismissive. Prefers to hand out anti-depressants (despite having seen a psychologist who did not assess me as depressed) rather than get to the bottom of physical symptoms and not really prepared to spend any time doing any physical examinations such as blood pressure or even temperature. Really a waste of money and time.
