If it hadn't been an emergency, and I had read the reviews - I wouldn't have let him cut me. My ankle was broken and at a 90 degree angle. He set it well and it is healing. But his staff is really bad. Individually they are fine, but trying to get anything done by them is terrible. Appointments, paperwork, anything, forget it. You have to ask over and over and they just have no urgency for anything. On the phone they told me to pick up paperwork for disability parking sticker from DMV, take it to them to get filled out and return it to DMV. It took days. I had to be driven and using my knee walker, when I picked it up, the woman at the window said - "Oh, we have that form here. We could have faxed it to you.” Incompetent is the only word that fits.

Dr. Montane and his staff are rude, nasty and inconsiderate. They seldom return phone calls, give you misinformation, and are just plain incompetent in most aspects. Dr. Montane is not well liked by the team of doctors treating me for the pre and post-op surgery complications. I asked for my medical records and there is information that is inaccurate. Dr. Montane is arrogant and has a very poor bedside manner. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Great surgeon but horrible bedside manner. He diagnosed me right away and the surgery went off without a hitch. He needs a personality though!

I suspect this guy is a sadist. He's an orthpaedic doc and he the 3 times I went, everyone was waiting a good 2 hours. There were old folks in wheelchairs in pain sitting in that position. A person in the waiting room spoke outloud to everyone to say it's always this way and it was cruel. He was unable to diagnose the chondromalacia I had and acted as if my pain and discomfort was hypochondria and that I needed to do some exercises that he told me to do. Turned out, the exercises would exacberate the condition rather than help. No help with pain management - I wasn't sleeping because of the pain. This guy should not be practicing - as I said, I think he is a sadist acting as a doctor. Scary.

I was referred to Dr. Montane by the emergency room at South Miami Hospital after coming in with a fractured radial head. Dr. Montane glanced at my x-rays from across the room and never actually examined my arm without the splint on. I told him I had been in a lot of pain and that the bones in that part of my arm felt all jumbled. He told me I just needed physical therapy. Over the next few weeks the pain didn't improve and my arm was still stuck at a 90 degree angle. I saw a doctor up at college in New Hampshire (I had been home in Miami when I fractured my elbow) and it took him 10 seconds to realize what was actually going on, and he operated on my arm soon after. My new doctor told me that if I had come to him any later I would have permanently lost a lot of function in my left arm. Fortunately, my arm is in pretty good shape today. But to add insult to injury, Montane's office charged me for follow up visits I didn't have, and I had to fight like hell to get the charges removed.

I MUST disagree with the ratings on Dr. Montane! He was the ONLY doctor who diagnosed my problem right away. On July 1, 2008, he did a lumbar fusion on L5 S1 and the results were outstanding!! I have never felt better in my life and had no problems with recover except the pain which was normal but it was well controlled. I think he is the BEST doctor I have had - I had an Orthopaedist do my laminectomy/discectomy 2 yrs. prior and he said if that procdure didn't fix the problem I would need a fusion. I saw 2 docs before Dr. Montane and am thrilled! There is NO other Orthopaedist I would recommend or go to again since he took care of me. A Neurosurgeon I saw before Dr. Montane found NO problem other than Arthritis and said to me, "good news - you'll never be paralyzed - bad news is you have Arthritis" - even with MRI films and x-rays, he blew it off. I feel I owe my life to Dr. Montane! He also arranged for a hospital bed and other needs when I got home. M. Wheeler

This so called "doctor" is not very punctual, he is a little ADD and also not very knoledge in his field, my mom had back surgery by his advice to be able to walk better and it happens that what my mom needed was a By-pass surgery to open the blood flow into the legs, her surgery was unnecessary. I would definetly recomend a second opinion after seeing him
