First, I have been going to this practice for 4 years now and have never met or seen Dr. Kurt Michaux. I believe that many people assume the practitioner they are seeing is Dr. Kurt Michaux when in reality they are seeing Dr. Lance Stromberg. I'm not saying they are being deceptive, I am saying they don't make that fact clear to new patients. Second, my husband and I both had similar treatments done and are both on the exact same insurance policy BUT, our charges and co-pays were vastly different-not just a few dollars. Third, they ask you sign a contract stating that all your information/records are THEIR property, not yours. They will not treat you if you do not sign this contract. I have never come across this before in any practice. What this means is, if you move or just want to change chiropractors they will not give you a copy or your own records, including any x-rays. For me personally, this meant when I asked for an itemized copy of my payment for a specific date, they would not give me one. My treatment, my payment, my record and they would not give me an itemized receipt. When pressed office staff told me two different things: 1) That HIPPA prevented them from giving me that information, which is a total falsehood. So when challenged they told me 2) That only one person in the office could access or print out that information and she wasn't in that day. When I asked when she would be in the office Dr. Lance Stromberg (who heard the whole thing because they perform your treatment in cattle pen style in a big open room, no privacy) got involved and he told me that they didn't know when she would be in because she keeps her own schedule. At that point, having spent 20+ minutes, calmly but stressed, trying to reason with them I decided it was pointless & not logical since the office staff clearly had no power to comply with my request. I returned every other day for several days, until finally a semi but not fully itemized bill showed up in my mailbox. After the initial consultation, my treatments there felt more like being on an assembly line than being treated for my individual health issues. In four years I was never re-evaluated. Lastly, and I have absolutely no proof of this, I walked away from this practice with a gut feeling that something about how they are billing, reporting, and doing business was on the shady side. Their business practices were so dramatically different than any other practice in the medical field that I have ever been to in 40 years so it left me with grave doubts about their integrity.
