Dr. Erin Smith is the worst doctor I've ever been to. She only want's healthy patients. I am autistic, LGBTQ, and have been looking for a doctor in Ottawa for 1.5 years. Through a team of people contacting doctor's offices, (Health Care Connect, Champlain Local Health Integration, and services through my employment) we found this doctor. I scheduled an appointment, informed her that I required mental health care, a full head to toe physical, and referrals to psychologists. She told me there is NO HELP for people with mental health concerns, and that she didn't want to take me on. I told her that I would just like a physical then, because I've been looking for someone for so long, and I need a doctor to make sure I am ok. She said that she only has enough time for "quick" patients. I asked her if a physical was ok? She asked me to re-book a month later. So anxious to ensure my health is ok, and desperate for a doctor, I booked a physical with her. Today was my physical, and all she did was check my blood pressure, and listen to my heart and lungs. (as if she couldn't do this the last time I was there). She made me wait a month, and she refused to do anything else. I told her that there is a long history of people with skin cancer, bowel cancer, and lung cancer in people in my family in their early 30's. I told her that I have not had a physical in 3 years. She knew that I was a new patient, she refused to get my records from my previous doctor, refused to make new records and check me from head to toe, and she kept repeating herself that she doesn't do this, doesn't do that. This doctor is not here for the patient. She only cares about herself and healthy patients, with no mental health concerns. Please avoid this doctor unless you want below average health care.
