Surgeon did his job well. Post wound care instructions were abysmal! 1 assistant sat me wait room, handed the care sheet & said she would review them after the surgery, then left. NEVER saw her again, not did anyone review the instructions. Once home I looked at care sheet & called the clinic re ointment, bandages, & other dressing materials needed. The receptionist (!) said the care aide would have it all. I said I'd like that confirmed by someone there who knew. Several minutes later she came back to the phone saying she and a few others "Felt certain" she was correct. I replied I'd prefer to speak with someone who knew this for a fact, not a feeling. She said she'd get someone to call me back. No one did call back - not in 5 days! At that point I did not know when an aide would come to my home, nor how I would find out. The next day early morning an RN called and came over. She knew nothing about her having to have the required supplies! And she had been told to come once daily, not the 2x on the care sheet. Turns out the ointment required was by prescription. I did not know that either. Well, the clinic printed their version of a prescription on the bottom of the care sheet; it looked like no prescription form I had ever seen, not did it say it was a prescription. I had to get special bandages - but couldn't as pharmacies didn't have & home health centre was closed that weekend! The 2 RN's on the weekend cobbled together materials they & I had. I may need an aide for medicine for scarring. No mention was given to RN's agency of this. Total botch-up of communications on their part in ALL aspects! Too much hubris & making assumptions there!
