If you've been thinking of having bunion surgery but were scared because of everything you've read, be afraid no more! Dr Sam Sklar and her father have changed my life - I know that sounds extreme but after years of pain and resigning myself to the fact that I was just going to have to live with it, I can tell you that it doesn't have to be that way. If your bunions let you, run to Foot First for your bunionectomies. From the start, Dr Sam put me at ease and I had full confidence that my feet were in great hands. I'm now a year post-surgery and my feet have never felt better. The whole process was smooth and Dr Sam and the staff were always friendly and professional but with a relaxed atmosphere. From being weight bearing immediately post surgery, being in a shoe in a couple of weeks to having minimal pain and scarring, there was very little impact on my family. Dr. Sam introduced her self during my Pre-op exam, she was a breath of fresh air walking me through the entire procedure including pain expectations and recovery time. On the day of the surgery she reminded me of the process, time expected to recover and what to do after the surgery was completed.
After the surgery, Dr. Sam was always available during my laser treatment appointments, making it a point to checkup on me even between surgeries on the days she was there.
The staff was very friendly and helpful during my recovery process, each staff member was always smiling and making me very comfortable, and always willing to answer any questions I may have had.
Foot first is a first class facility that I have recommended my daughter and grand son also.

Dr. Sam is the best!!! Any surgery is scary, but for me, agreeing to have surgery on both feet (though 2 weeks apart) is one I agonized over for years. I live alone with a demanding job and couldn't be in a situation where I was immobile for an extended amount of time. After my consultation with Foot First and Dr. Sam, I knew I was ready. She is extremely knowledgable about the procedure (having gone through it herself) and relatable to her patients. All appointments before surgery and followups can happen at the downtown Chicago location, with just the actual surgery occurring in Schaumburg. While it seems too good to be true - it's not! After each surgery I was able to walk out on my own - no crutches or support. I followed the post-op instructions and was in tennis shoes after 2 weeks and cleared for anything and everything after 2 months (even heels)! I am in love with my results.

And let's not forget the staff! Everyone at Foot First is so welcoming, from those at the front, to the medical technicians, to the company Foot First partners with for anesthesia. Appointments are accommodating and on time. I received a call the day before each surgery from the anesthesiologist. After each procedure a follow up call from the staff plus a text from Dr, Sam herself checking in on me.

My only regret is I didn't find Dr. Sam and Foot First sooner!

Dr. Sam Sklar was fantastic. I wish I had had my bunion surgeries a long time ago. I work in a warehouse and am on my feet constantly. I had to use one of those knee scooters for a few weeks afterwards, but I was still way more mobile than expected. Only missed a couple of days work each time. She was so good, I brought my 12 year old son in also because he needed orthotics.

Dr. Samantha Sklar is amazing! After meeting with her once I knew immediately that I wanted to remove both bunions ASAP. She truly puts your concerns first and is completely understanding. There are so many bunion horror stories due to various reasons, but the doctors at FootFirst easily discredit them and put your mind at ease. Absolutely wonderful staff and clinic as a whole.

I am sure if you are looking at this site now you are thinking about bunion surgery. I would look no further and most definitely go with Foot First podiatry. Dr. Keith Sklar did the surgery and he has years of experience perfecting his technique. I walked out of the office after the surgery! There was minimal pain and scarring and I was in a gym shoe after a few weeks. I live in the City of Chicago and do not have a car. I was worried about how I would get around. No Problem! A bit slow going at first but each week I was able to walk faster and get to my normal destinations. I went to the Chicago office on Michigan Ave and had my initial consultation Dr. Samantha Sklar and then she took great care of me after the surgery. They even offer laser treatments to enhance healing! The office staff in Chicago are very friendly and there is a casual but professional atmosphere that makes you calm down if you are nervous. Thanks to both of the Sklar Doctors, I can wear any shoe I want and not be in constant pain!

I know you must have heard horror stories about getting your bunion(s) fixed. There are so many people in my life that have told me NOT to do this procedure because they (or someone they know) had a bad result. I am a living testimony that you should have this procedure done by Dr. Samantha Sklar right now! Do not waste another minute of your life in pain! Dr. Sam Sklar was so helpful in explaining how her procedure is different than everyone else's. I went to other podiatrists before. They said I would have to take off work for 4-6 weeks. That was simply NOT an option for me. Dr. Sam told me that I can have the surgery on a Thursday afternoon and be safely back to work on Monday in a boot. I was even able to drive to work on my own with my boot! People who know I had the surgery are completely amazed at how well I am walking in such a short time period.

In terms of pain, I took ONE pain pill the next day, and I was good to go. It has been one month since I have had the surgery and I had very minimal pain. I am being so careful to heed Dr. Sklar's orders so that I can be up and running in no time. She already said that I can exercise by using an exercise bike. She told me that I will be able to use an elliptical and play golf very soon.

After putting up with the awful bunion pain for many months, I did my research and found Foot First Podiatry. Made my first appointment and was lucky enough to have Dr. Samantha Sklar as my surgeon. She went over everything that would happen. All my questions were answered and I knew completely what to expect. The surgery went so well I had to question if they had done anything. I have experienced no pain to speak of after the surgery and am more than 100% satisfied with the results. At two weeks she had me back in a tennis shoes. At three weeks was walking near normal. Dr. Sam monitored my progress throughout my rehab and was always there to answer my questions. I will definitely never put off any foot problems in the future. As for the punctuality, the doctor and the clinical staff were always punctual and usually ahead of time. The only hit would have been against the Anesthesiologist who was quite late the day of the procedure.
If you need your feet looked after; do yourself a favor and see Foot First and Dr. Samantha Sklar.

I can not say "DO IT!!" enough. If you are considering bunion surgery, do your research and have it done by Dr. Sam Sklar at Foot First. I had dealt with progressively worsening bunions for many years. I was told to avoid the surgery unless I couldn't stand the pain by other doctors. I went for a consultation with Dr. Sam Sklar and she thoroughly reviewed my situation, answered every question and had me leave knowing that I would definitely schedule my surgery. I have now had both feet done and could not be happier. Everything has gone as planned and the outcome is awesome. Get your feet fixed!!!

I had a consultation with Dr. Samantha Sklar in mid 2016. I was inquiring about bunion removal on my right foot....she was very knowledgeable and we talked about the surgery...I said I would think about it...Well, fast forward to March, 2017...I called to set up an appt...went in to the Schaumburg office and spoke with Dr. Keith Sklar. Had all my preliminary tests done & set up the surgery for May 15th...to say that I am VERY pleased with my results and the whole "Sklar" experience is a big understatement!!! Had very minimal pain & 4 days after the surgery I was driving!! I've gone back weekly for laser treatments and check-ups and alway have an exceptional visit....the care & concern given by the whole staff is amazing!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend Drs. Keith & Samantha Sklar if you need foot surgery...My only regret is that I waited so long to make my decision to go ahead with mine!!!
