As a patient of Dr. Leblanc for many years, I always sensed there was something about him I just couldn't pinpoint. Yes, he's a good doctor despite the inappropriate comments now and again. With the recent Collège des Medecins investigation and ruling, it all became focused .

My experience with Dr Leblanc stems mostly from his once-every-14-days assignment at Royal Victoria Hospital / Montreal Chest Institute / MUHC/CUSM Glen Site Hospital, where the staff is much friendlier and more efficient than at the other private clinic where Dr Leblanc mostly works from every day of every week. I had also been at his prior private clinic in 2008-2011 until that clinic either closed down or no longer had Dr Leblanc working around. While I appreciated Dr Leblanc's honest opinions and frank conversations about my health and HIV, as well as participation in voluntary clinical studies, I had to put in question his choice of treatment medication that I started in 2014 : Complera, which contains Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF), which is one of the active ingredients of Truvada. It is questionable because Dr Leblanc did not test my blood for HLA, which would have given me many other treatment options not containing TDF, however I am aware that Gilead, the manufacturer of Truvada and Complera, lied to all the doctors by stating that there was a very small risk of bone density loss to be monitored, when in fact it was a much greater risk that we all bore. I had last seen Dr Leblanc in 2015 when I moved away to Toronto, with another doctor who had been trained by Dr Leblanc. I kept taking Complera without any doubts until more information became available, and neither Leblanc or his apprentice put any word forward to voluntarily stop this medication. I moved to Vancouver and stopped Complera voluntarily at my request in 2019 with another medical opinion to be switched to another class of drugs containing Abacavir (marketed as Triumeq) that was only available to HLA-negative blood testing that Dr Leblanc could have requested. I felt like there was peer pressure from Gilead to all the doctors to simply put us all on Complera or Truvada or whichever new medication is available (currently the newer one is marketed as Biktarvy) without regard to our risks or available science data.

I have been with Dr Le Blanc for 12 years and have no complaints. Unfortunately his receptionist staff at the Clinic changes frequently. The Director of the clinic (Patrick) has been very rude to me on the phone when I realised they forgot to take down my appointment. He made me feel like it was my fault. I was shocked how he spoke to me!
What a shame, it is a good clinic otherwise.

I have been a patient of Dr. Leblanc for several years. My experience has been very positive. During my visits he is thorough and attentive. He listens to my concerns and has never been dismissive. I have complete confidence in the level of care I receive from him. Sometimes you wait awhile in the waiting room. The flip side is that when you are in his office, you have his full attention. I think that’s a good thing.

he violated his hyppocratic oath and financially ruined me for years because of court fees that I had to assume because of the lies he told one of his friends who tried to frame me

I was a patient for 37 years and as the older post in both names (with ot without the initial P) and all that is mentionned in these last posts = since he opened the Opus clinic - I have also lived - I can no longer see him for in my humble opinion he is now a risk to his patients with serious unbalances - I could have died of a heart attack - I do not know what id wrong with him - But I will pray for him

I just recently left DR RP Leblanc after 10 years of him being my Family doctor.
Since the opening of the new Opus clinic, I have never felt that he was happy with his work.
The time with several patients is somewhat very long and the waiting room take for ever to clear. Once in his office, I felt rushed and discarted quickly. He had me on some of the most expensive drugs for my HIV situation. I believe he received a percentage on the sales?

Calling the clinic was a nightmare over the phone and the location in teh downtown area is not very easy access. He often would change nurses over very short times, and taht made me unconfortable for the blood test. I,m very happy to have taken the time to find a new family doctor. I cant say he will be in business for many years to come in my opinion.
It's sad as the first years with him were very fun and and he would hit all the right bottons. But things change and not for the better.

Even the staff seems indeferent and lost, often changing there too.

Good Luck
