I had a 12,567 word review. But 5,000 words is the limit. So here’s the very, VERY skinny on Rachel.

DO NOT GO TO HER!

Rachel is:

•Arrogant to the point of being a megalomaniac.
•She will ignore other doctor’s diagnoses with higher credentials and only treat you on diagnosis made by herself.
•She will deny you much needed help she is obligated by her profession to give if she feels her “power” is being undermined.
•She is not beyond demonstrating physical intimidation tactics. (She is SCARY!)
•She seems to revel in the pain and suffering caused by her actions, or in my particular case, complete lack of action.
•She will prescribe highly psychoactive medication at the drop of a hat with no concern/investigation into medical history, or even meeting you for that matter. With no regard for the damage she may cause I’m doing so. (Antidepressant/antipsychotics cause my condition to deteriorate both mentally and physically, she prescribed both to be used in conjunction with one by letter to my GP. GP threw the letter out)
•... well, she’ll basically treat you like you’re less than dirt and make you feel even worse than when you came in. I was suicidal for a few days after my last appointment with her, because of her. My POA had cancel her travel to stay and extra week to help me cope with the trauma of the second and especially third visit to Rachel. The third visit was nothing short of terrifying.

Rachel is by far the most unprofessional, frightening, cruel and, quite frankly, dangerous “doctors” I have ever had the misfortune in dealing with.

If you have to see her, BRING A WITNESS/POA/FAMILY MEMBER! DO NOT go alone!

Dr. Bell is phenomenal, her knowledge of brain illness gives the patient hope , she is never punitive as some psychiatrists can be. She always has compassion and solutions .

Dr. Bell saw me when I was in the hospital suicidal, she told me I was bipolar but did not diagnose me, then saw me once more and prescribed lithium which I did not take right away, and she did not book another appointment. When I started taking it, i couldn't get in to see her. I've seen her twice since then and she always rushes me out the door within 10 minutes and does not try to help at all, even though I only succeed in getting an appointment once a year. I also have undiagnosed C-PTSD. The only reason I'm alive is myself, and that is a miracle. This level of unprofessionalism from someone working with extremely vulnerable people is a disgrace.

My initial impression of this Dr was wrong. I was very ill and she has been helping me a lot. I felt heard and she is very professional. Smart and gorgeous. We are lucky to have her in Powell River.
