My experience With Dr. Singla during a MOHS procedure to remove skin cancer showed him to be competent in the procedure but lacking in multiple other important areas. He was literally cranky with me because the numbing medicine wasn’t working (not my fault!) I found him to be unsympathetic, for example. I told him before he did the procedure that I had frontal fibrosing alopecia and to be careful of my hair. However, during the procedure even though the large open wound was not near my hairline he burnt off a large section of my bangs with the cauterizing tool. When he was told he didn’t seem to care. His staff was brisk and unfeeling. I was never offered any kind of comfort during the procedure. I was actually made to leave the surgical area because they needed the room for another patient and go into an unsterile area in their waiting room with an open bleeding wound. This is not standard. Most places treat it like the surgery that it is and you are given a blanket and a pillow and checked on and comforted. I was left with excessive bleeding that was running down my face and all in my hair. At one point I had a nurse stick her fingers in my wound to help stop the bleeding when she had not paused to wash her hands or put on gloves. I had pain. I had stress. There were multiple things that were said by him and his staff that caused more stress because they had an overall attitude of this was their “normal” every day and they failed to take into account that it was not my normal! I needed some things explained or at least some comfort. I did not feel treated right the entire day. I was there almost 6 hours. I cried at one point because I had a nurse say that they would not stop with the cuttings until they “saw bone” which I later found out was completely untrue. It was a horrible experience and could’ve been made 100% better by a caring doctor and a more trained, caring staff. To top it all off, within a few days after the surgery, I contracted two serious, potentially life-threatening bacteria one of them being MRSA that are specifically associated with surgical procedures and medical settings. I spent eight weeks trying to get the wound well which reopened due to the terrible infection caused by the procedure Dr. Singla did and how I was treated during the day. I couldn’t possibly recommend this surgical MOHS team to anyone. I believe people should know what I went through before making an appointment with this team, Dr. Singla and Dr. Freeman, because it wasn’t just one thing, it was 10 or more things that happened throughout the day that were bad medicine and uncaring treatment right when I needed to be cared for the most.
