Found Dr Chadwick as a great consultant psychiatrist who listened and genuinely cared, he gave me opportunities and chances regardless of what the outcome came to and will be grateful always, as I feel he pulled me out of a very dark place where the pathway I was going had ultimately one ending and I couldn't see that. Chadwick should be taken off the eating disorder program, he has absolutely no knowledge, and prescribed me an ancient antidepressant that should be never been prescribed. He then went to say nothing would help and I should get ect even though how I hadn’t even tried that many different medications.

Dr Chadwick, would pick and choose his favourite patients while I was on the program. It was clear that he had favourites and didn’t treat everyone equally.

Maybe he listens to you if you’re a man, but if you’re a women don’t expect him to take any insight from your own experience of your life. He will ignore you and come up with his own conclusions because he thinks he knows you better than you know yourself after a 15 minute interaction. He put me on the highly addictive and easily abused medication Lyrica when I asked for non-addictive medications due to a history of substance abuse. 5 years of misery, memory loss and another addiction later I’m only just getting off it.
He refused to admit there was a chance any of the possible diagnosis’ I thought I might have and then when he referred me to a therapist he had listed that I had one of the diagnosis I brought up, except he wouldn’t even entertain the thought to my face, I guess because he didn’t get to say it first. He would spend half of the $300 session telling me stories about his other patients and details about them that I would never want my doctor, especially psychiatrist, talking to anyone else about. It got to the point I worried about what I would say to him because I knew he’d be sharing it with people who had absolutely no business knowing.
Literally the worst psychiatrist I have EVER come across, don’t waste your time or money on this poor excuse for a doctor.

A couple of weeks ago I was under Dr Chadwick's care, through the eating disorder program. Regrettably, my experience was very bad. Before my admission, I had heard that he had no clue what he was doing and wouldn't give anyone the day of time. I decided I wouldn't listen and go in making my own judgment. I found him incredibly ridiculing, he would refuse to listen to anything I said. Frankly, would've left a week or so in if I didn't need the assistance in eating. I think it speaks loudly, that staff which had been working in the program for 5+ years decided to find work elsewhere or consistently step down from their role.

I have been attending in person consults for more than six years with Leighton Chadwick. There have been 11 admissions under his care at the Hollywood Clinic, including ECT.
Dr Chadwick has consistently assisted me through many complex issues and multiple traumas in my life (past and present) without panicking or abandoning me. Sure, we have experienced some disagreements of opinion, however the alliance is respectful, trusting and transparent! I feel safe with my psychiatrist and can talk through any thought, emotion or behaviour. This clinician is not unintelligent and does differentiate between those who genuinely want to be helped and those who do not want to be helped! Leighton does not waste his or the patient's time. Honesty is a two way street, as is respect.
He has significantly assisted me to understand life and it's opportunities positively, also instilled a level of perseverance, motivation and resilience towards survival.

Dr Chadwick is very friendly and personable, and very knowledgeable especially regarding medications and a wide range of mental health conditions. This inpatient stay was the first time I felt that my other mental health conditions were acknowledged, and he personalised the treatment experience to suit my individual needs. He is still fairly new to the Eating Disorder program and at times that showed, but it was evident that he is actively working on broadening his knowledge of eating disorders and the program. I do feel that there is room for improvement in that regard. For anyone reading the previous group of negative comments, they were all by the same person. Overall while there are definitely things Dr Chadwick could improve, he enabled me to have a positive experience while under his care, and has helped me move forwards in my recovery.

I can’t even begin to describe the damage this man has done/ is doing. He needs to be reported and deregistered as a Psychiatrist in WA. Where he got his training I have no idea but he also lacks compassion and empathy and basic human decency. Good luck to anyone being referred to him. You’re in for a wild ride and not the good kind.

Nope, nope, nope, nope. Do not see this dr under any circumstances (unless you want to feel/ get worse). He really doesn’t care. Should retire when you get to that point because patients require compassion not judgement and ridicule!

Psychiatrist Leighton Chadwick is a danger to himself and others. Avoid this man at all costs. I can not stress this enough, literally go to anyone else. A frightening human being.
