Like the others here have written, I also appreciate Dr. Kegel as an older woman doctor who has the long history of experience to know how to talk to a mentally sick person with kindness and dignity. She clearly has a lot of experience working with very unwell people. She knows when it’s time to give up on an antipsychotic and move to another and use legal means to make sure our loved ones keep well. She has a lot of class. She knows when it’s time to use an injection prescription. She listens to family opinions. Wonderful woman. We need more female role model professionals like her. I hope she doesn’t retire soon. She’s such a gem

This doctor may be in her 50s but her skills are NOT old or stale. She knows all her medications and knew exactly what to start at the right time and cut the nonsense of staying with treatments that don’t work. Thankful for her

Dr. Sheila Kegel has been my psychiatrist for over 4 years. Unlike some psychiatrists Dr. Kegel takes the time to listen to your problems and offer advice to deal with them. She is compassionate, empathetic, a good listener and knowledgeable. She takes the time to review your last appointment and follows up. I would highly recommend her. I had 3 previous psychiatrists and none of them have ever been able to help me like Dr. Kegel, so she has my undying gratitude!!!

I agree with all the posts here who speak highly of Dr. Kegel. From my experience of her as a family member of a patient and as a professional myself I can say she has filled us with admiration and confidence. She has all the characteristics I was looking for in a doctor - enough experience (I like doctors close to the age sweet spot which is 50 years, best combo of energy and experience at that age, which many cognitive experts also agree with), a really gentle and humane way of communicating which is vital when working with people with mental illness and psychosis, and clearly a solid base of knowledge and willingness to act with confidence. She has allowed and provided an environment where people can recover and reach their potential. She provides hope. Dr. Kegel should be celebrated as an exemplary doctor and a source of pride for our community

Communication ability: very good, makes you comfortable
Confidence level: high, but she’s humble too
Professionalism: very high
Knowledge of drugs: excellent
Knowledge of therapy: good, but usually focuses on medication
Knowledge of system: good, she knows how to connect you to services
Personality: kind but professional
Overall: 5/5 as you can see by the stars

This lady knows her stuff and I was lucky to be with her for care in hospital she has a good way of speaking to people that seems humble and caring. She takes our feelings into consideration which a lot of psychiatrists don’t do. Total appreciation is what I have for this wise lady

She is a wonderful older woman who carries herself with professionalism and style. She speaks with maturity and humility that shows her many decades of experience. She has shown commitment to the patients of white rock mental health for many years. Hooray for Dr. Kegel, and hooray for our community to have such a good doctor working in our midst. You guys are immature and losing sight of what’s important in a doctor. Dr. Kegel is OK looking but a bit too old to get all the praise others are giving. And anyways for crying out loud she’s our doctor, not girlfriend. These comments about her looks are so stupid and immature. Thankfully she’s helped me mature as a person. I like that she has that older wise woman look, kind of like a good witch or a prophet who comes out of the wild desert after a hundred years of solitude to make potions to save civilization and make our mental suffering go away. That’s what she’s done for me over a long time. She didn’t cure me but gave me kind words of hope. She is an excellent doctor who makes you feels likes she’s your wise mother and sorceress all in one. That’s what I’ve been looking for for like forever. We need more psychiatrists like this I tell you. Especially at Peace Arch which has had some doozies and floozies over the years

Dr. Sheila Kegel sees me for a chronic issue. She’s great and it’s not just because of that beautiful face and body of hers. I’m a guy and sadly yes I try not to notice but this doctor is gorgeous and could be easily walking down a Victoria’s Secret runway and fit right in wearing skimpy nothings. But even more valuable is She actually seems to care when you are with her.
