Dr Rathwell has been my family doctor for 13 years. Always a pleasure to be around and he’s a very good doctor! Any issues I’ve ever had he has addressed perfectly. He’s also my children’s doctors and he’s always been great to get them in that day if they are sick to avoid sitting at the hospital.

Went to ER with chronic heartburn that seemed to have ramped up into an extremely sore throat. Waited over an hour and a half at 4am with only one other patient in ER at the time and he was late to tending to her as well. Told him I had a severe sore throat and was struggling a lot with sleep. He spent two minutes checking me and said my throat “looked fine”. He then told me he was going to give me a COVID test and went to leave immediately. When I stopped him and asked “so nothing severe?”, he responded with “no it looks okay” and then walked straight out. The worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. Whether that is the problem or not, at least take two seconds to address concerns over a problem that’s been dominating my life for over two months. Nurses at KDH are pretty good though.

Worst doctor I've ever seen. He tries to.rush you out so fast that you cant actually tell him whats wrong. The few times you're able to, he makes you feel stupid or that your over reacting to whatever condition it may be. And quite often I've had to go to the hospital because he has diagnosed my incorrectly.

I have had this doctor twice in the last two years. Once for my heart and once for my appendix. I cringed when I saw he was then attending physician because of what happened with my heart a year earlier. I find it so hard to believe that he is the head of the KDH Emergency . How is it possible this man can hold that position? Even the nurses roll there eyes at some of his decision.

Saw him in the Kemptville District Hospital Emergency room for my son. Argued with the nurse in front of us around taking a temperature and made me feel stupid about the concern I had - should seriously consider working on his bedside manner, not acceptable.

Nice man, but is always in a hurry. Never takes time to really listen. He seems very knowledgeable, but because he's in & out of the office so fast, I often find I haven't told him the full complaint. Very poor follow up on tests.
