I have had him as my Family Dr. for quite some time. No he is never on time but has always been and excellent caregiver to myself, my wife and son. very surprised by the ratings below. no issue with him at all. yes he is Always late.

I met this doctor after moving to Sooke last year. I had a life threatening illness from a pregnancy. Before I moved I spoke with the receptionist about making sure that they gave good doctors and she assured me they did. Dr. McKnight was the meanest person I have ever met. I had postpartum depression and anxiety cause I almost lost my life giving birth. I also had Placenta Accreta that I was dealing with and had anxiety about it as it could of killed me at any moment. I was still working with a doctor in the city for surgeries for the Accreta. Dr Mcknight told me that depression and anxiety were all in my head. I asked him for a refill on my anti anxiety meds and he told me I needed to go to rehab. He told me if I come back to his clinic he would make sure I would get the same treatment. He never looked at my Accreta as he said he only has ten mins. He put me in touch with mental health. I got a call from them two days later and they asked if I was ok and I said no. They also said they have that compliment about him all the time and to stay away from him. He should lose his license. I ended up moving away from Sooke and going back to my old family doctor. Every person I tell this story to they are discussed about it. Dr McKnighy you have no right to abuse your power as a doctor. You’re a very angry person and I suggest you get some help and a new job that doesn’t involve caring for people

I agree with the comments below Dr. Mcknight is not only the rudest Dr. I've ever seen, but I've never been treated as poorly anywhere. I can not believe a person like this is able to keep working in their profession.

Dr. McKnight seems very unhappy as a physician, and it shows, unfortunately. He was displeased when I told him that my nurse advocate suggested he had forgotten to give me an abdominal exam when I mentioned abdominal pain. He abruptly told me to get onto his exam table. He palpated my stomach area and purposely punched an area underneath my left rib cage, causing me extreme pain. There was no validation of the pain he'd caused me, and no apology. There is no doubt in my mind, that Dr. McKnight was quite angry. "You're fine. Get off of the table." I had hired a nurse advocate due to Dr. McKnight's continued blatant insensitivity and obvious incompetence. He spends the entire appointment staring into his computer and anxious to have me leave. When my nurse advocate mentioned that I appeared jaundiced, and asked him why he hadn't bothered to even LOOK at his patient, Dr. McKnight finally looked at me and laughed. He then said, "Oh. Yes. I supposed she DOES look a bit jaundiced."
I am in the process of writing a very serious letter of complaint regarding Dr. McKnight's rude attitude and his inexcusable physical assault on my person. I highly suggest you consider going to see a REAL PHYSICIAN, who is knowledgeable, polite and attentive. Dr. McKnight's behavior is indicative of someone who has anger issues, and he should be relieved of his position at the clinic. I personally believe that he is a danger to the public.

Always feel rushed, no time to properly discuss issues. Very rude and short. I have seen him 4 times now and this is always the case. I've never been made to feel so horrible by a dr, like I was today!

This is the rudest Dr. I have ever met. He's arrogant and doesn't care, he treats his patients like they are just units that are getting in his way. I will never visit Dr. Ian McKnight again as long as I live. He is no credit to the medical profession.

Always very late. Felt very belittled when talking to him. Didn't seem very knowledgeable with the issues I had. Dr. Brennan McKnight on the other hand is great and highly recommend.

This is the worst doctor I have ever met. He's rude, arrogant and had no knowledge on mental health issues. He told me to go for a walk and to get over it. He shouldn't be a doctor.

Never had an appointment on time with this guy. Always late. Sometimes by nearly an hour.
