I just love Dr. Liggett. He is kind and has a great "bed-side" manner. He is not pushy and makes sure you understand everything that he is telling you. He is soft spoken and really laid-back. I trust him completely with the care of my eyes. He is also a great listener and does not treat you like a child. He order the meds that I told him would work for me, even though it was not what other patients took. I have never had to wait long and his staff was the best. Understanding and patient with me even though I am a reluctant and scaredy-cat patient.

My husband has been a 5 yr patient of Dr. Liggett: we are privileged to have him in our lives. His mastery of retinal medicine is extraordinary: he has, literally, written the book on the subject; his international preeminence in the field is matched by his remarkable skill as a practicing physician. Dr. L's great personal warmth and compassionate, calm manner are distinctive and as integral to the process of healing as is his concern for his patients' emotional and physical comfort. His tranquil offices reflect this: professional and office staff are gracious and patient-centered. Due to the nature of retinal examination and evaluation, patients may spend significant in-office time while assessment is completed prior to seeing Dr. L. Patients are advised of this when making appointments. Recognizing this unavoidable delay, Dr. L's concern for patient comfort is reflected in the array of amenities provided: the wait during testing may be unavoidably lengthy, but never unpleasant.

If you don't mind wasting 3 hours in a waiting room with an unprofessional staff and fake doctor, then see him. He should have retired a long timne ago because if he had any knowledge, it is all gone now. He spends most of his time talking about social things and then leaves incompetent staff to explain my diagnosis to me. I went to see another doctor in the practice, Dr. Tom, and he was worse. Go to Manhattan if you want good doctors. Connecticut can't seem to produce any.

My diagnosis of ocular melanoma really threw me for a loop. Dr. Liggett has been wonderful throughout the 4 1/2 years I've been going to him. He has always answered my questions and explained what he was doing and why. I have found Dr. Liggett to be very personable and to have a good sense of humor, which has helped me so much in dealing with this. In addition, his office staff has been extremely nice and helpful. I have no complaints with my care and would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Liggett.

Dr. Liggett failed to adequately monitor a growing retinal detachment in my eye for 10 years. This resulted in surgery and partial loss of vision. His communication with me regarding my condition had always been minimal and vague. He brushed off my questions and when forced to answer provided very little useful information. He also gave me contradicting information regarding the status of my condition on several occasions. The last straw was when he confused a medication that I was on at the time of the emergency procedure with another, much more benign medication. The result of this error on my recovery is still uncertain. I emphatically discourage anyone who aspires to be conscientious and informed about their medical care from going to Dr. Liggett.
