Hey, it cost me nothing for the removal of my Gallbladder. I did not wake up, or have any issues with this guy. Yup he's a little cold, and has no patience for fat folks, my bmi was 25, putting me on the scale of a tad overweight, and i mentioned that i had lost some weight since my attacks, and yes he did say i could loose a little more, but you know what? he's right, i could loose a bit more. good for him for saying it like it is. im not looking for a friend, i just want to get in and get the hell out. he came by a couple of times to check in after surgury. now 1 month on, i feel great thanks to him. no issue at all. i dont want a joke cracking doctor. i can get that at the comedy club.

Got my bowel removed because it was obstructed, answered all my questions before and after my operation and he was to the point. I healed well after. He did good work on me as I am feeling much better.

I was sent to see this man about possible gallbladder disease....quite frankly, he was the rudest doctor I have ever met and judging from some of the other comments on this site, I'm not the only one he was rude to. Judging from other comments he is biased against overweight individuals which I'm not but I am female and perhaps that's his problem; I'm really not sure what his issue was?? He did not offer any info after his "diagnosis" and was snarky, belittling and sarcastic. He was also inappropriate when he examined me and I had to undress in front of him without a sheet to cover myself. It was beyond unprofessional and I would rather drive to another city than see this man ever again!!!!!

I rated Dr. Hota's office and staff the way I did because they are very helpful and kind. I think Dr. Hota is one of the best Surgeon's around and I am thankful he is in Napanee for all the residents there.

i found him to be rude and arrogant, after having a c section performed by him i ended up having my appendix removed three weeks after the c section...when he came in the room he felt around my abdomen then he proceded to slap my stomach and tell me to do something about that, i was humiliated! i would not go back to him if he was the last surgeon on earth.

Dr. Hota performed colonoscopies on blth my wife and myself, safely and well. He was kind, knowlegable, efficient and very professional. We both have complete confidence in his ablilities.

Don't care how impeccably dressed he is at the supermarket. Sounds like he cannot get his sedation right for colonoscopy. Had amnesia for 10 hours and had no warning from him about this effect of the drugs he gave me. Would never go to him again.

I read the other ratings and I can't understand what some patients expect. Dr. Van Hota has done surgery and several colonoscopy for me and he is an exceptional, professional and caring person. When I was in ICU he visited me twice a day. I did not see the doctors of the other patients visit them even once! He has to be good because he was lured by other hospitals but thankfully he stayed and is loyal to his patients. He is a gentleman, always impeccably dressed even when he is at the supermarket. Glad to have a doctor like him in our community.

required gall bladder surgery after having my daughter who was 2 months old at the time....blamed the gal bladder on my weight....HELLO JUST HAD A CHILD...rudest man I have ever met and I would travel to Toronto before ever having him lay a hand on me again for any reason....also had colonoscopy performed by him....anthestic didn't take and I was awake and fully aware of the whole painful process which I attempted to remind him multiple times. He may know his trade but his personality could use a MAJOR OVERHAUL.....such a dramatic difference from his AMAZING wife who is my family doctor
