First, I will admit I had a poor outcome as compared to many others I know (who did not have surgery with Dr. Carroll). My cancer is back, I can't get an erection, and I leak urine constantly.

I had heard he might have been good when he was younger, but he is too old now. seems shaky and his mind doesn't seem razor (no pun intended) sharp. His resident and nurse (Sara is super!) seem to cover a lot for him, but I think there are better surgeons. I have some golf buddies who had surgery at Stanford and had great outcomes.
Dr. Carroll is also a but rude and short with me and my son (who accompanies on all of my visits). spends very little time and is arrogant as hell.
Your prostate cancer is too important to leave it up to this kind of poor surgical care. Be forewarned!

My office appointment with Dr. Peter Carroll was for a second opinion on my Prostate cancer. He very informative, pleasant and had great bedside manners.
If I had the right type of insurance I would have him do the surgery.

Dr. Carroll is amazing. He was recommended to me by my ob/gyn after a large tumor was found on my kidney. Since I was newly pregnant the urologist I was initially referred to recommended taking out my whole kidney and waiting until my baby was viable and inducing labor then. I received a second opinion from Dr. Carroll and he performed a partial nephrectomy on me (saving half my kidney and removing the whole tumor!) when I was 17 weeks pregnant. Recovery has been amazing and I am due today with a healthy baby girl. Also, I was urinating a lot of blood prior to surgery. He rerouted my urinary system and no trace of blood was found in my urine, even during recovery. Other docs I have seen have found this fact to be amazing.
