The most kind and gentle man practicing psychiatrist I ever met. I was diagnosed by him in 1989 with Bipolar 1 and my Lithium Carbonate (gold standard) prescribed for 20 years just before his passing in 2009 saved my life. As he didn't want me at 65 (I'm 80 now and in good health) to have any kidney issues, he prescribed me Seroquel (anti-psychotic) until in 2020 my current doctor has me on Divalproex Sodium which has no side effects. I have been very stable since 2009. I would sit out on the divan by the pond with the sprinkler while waiting then his wife, Joy, always had chocolate milk and cookies before my appointment for which he graciously gave an hour. Any time I needed to see him he always accommodated me in a timely manner. One time when my oldest daughter had a mental breakdown while in her 1st year at the University of Windsor I called him to see if he could arrange to get her into Homewood right away without going through the tedious general hospital system. This was a Sunday and his car was in the garage for repairs and the Form 1 paper needed was in the Acton office. He asked me to pick him up to retrieve the form which I did. My daughter got into Homewood right away. Tell me if your psychiatrist would do that?

I am sorry to hear negative comments about Dr. Dougan, as he treated me for post-trauma and post-postpartum depression. His staff were amazing at being there to support me. Medication is only one part of treatment and medications work differently for everyone.

Terrific doctor cares deeply about my problems and is always there when I need him. His staff is always polite and warmhearted. Beautiful, comfortable setting for long talks.

His solution to your problems is to give you more pills. My daughter tried to committ suicide 2 X on the wrong combo of drugs from him. He is in his 90's, and relly shouldn't be practicing. Appts. are in his house, his staff is his wife, which is unsettling.

This Dr. needs to be barred from practicing psychiatry. He is incompetent.
