Dr. Lothstein has been my family physician for years now. I've had no problems with him nor his staff, just great service, very attentive and knowledgeable. He saved my life by ordering an invasive procedure done where precancerous growths were found and removed in time before they became deadly. I might be deceased now if not for his proactive insight and action taken.

I'm hoping that dr. Lothstein would have been a good doctor for my mother. She died and he was the doctor after the fact and as I waited in the waiting room all he said was "she was a nice lady from the one time i met her". No contact for a social worker, no empathy, just "your mom is dead but she was nice". Overall I would rate this doctor zero on an empathy level. I guess if you live in rural Canada you get what you can get, which is the bare minimum.

Dr. Lothstein doesn't like to fill out forms. One time he said he understood my financial situation and wasn't going to charge me for paperwork, but complained about me sending so many forms. I had to clarify that he had filled out the paperwork incorrectly and it was sent back.
Staff don't like to forward messages, the phone lines are always jammed, and they don't have an answering machine. Their inability to accept ownership is now the reason I'm seeking a new physician. They don't seem to understand the importance of social assistance, or passing along messages.
I have a mood disorder, and am aware that sometimes I can fly off the handle. In this case I made a conscious effort not to. I honestly just wanted to know what the disconnect was.
I asked the secretary, Theresa, why my request to have a medical review package completed for the Ontario Disability Support Program was on the doctor's desk until June. When I made the request, I had just returned from a "physical" (a 3hr drive one way for a 15min appointment.. made me wonder why I was only able to schedule the appointment in the spring, or why any other time I tried to book a physical, I was told a regular appointment timeslot wasn't enough). I was in a panic about the packages return date. I thought I wouldn't have time to send the package and have it back in time, so I called and spoke to the secretary March 6th. I realized afterwards I had it confused with financial eligibility for Kitchener Housing, and sent the package once that was sorted (March 19th).
When I received notice that I was being cut off ODSP for not submitting a medical review package (beginning of June), I called and spoke to another secretary, who said there was nothing in my chart. Theresa got the message, (which is amazing, because my request to have messages passed along are seldom fulfilled) she left a voicemail telling me the doctor had put off filling out the package because he was under the impression he had 90 days from the date of my signature, and was allowing for any changes to my condition.
It was a week before I could get her on the phone to question where the 90 days came from. I said I didn't understand how my life long afflictions could possibly change in a 90 day period. I have degenerative disks, which from my understanding will get progressively worse with age, I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder at the age of 8, and the PTDS from 2012 wasn't even diagnosed until 2015.... I was put on hold mid sentence, so she could read the section the doctor had seen, referring to the 90 day period... which mentioned extension requests... which I did not know to submit, because I was expecting the package to be completed ASAP. I asked not to be put on hold mid sentence, and Theresa told me she hadn't been spoken to that way in years... I again reiterated the importance of the medical review, asked what conditions the doctor had included, reminding her that I had called in months ago requesting the package be completed. She deflected, saying the package had been sent in, and I started questioning the validity of the "physical"... I got so frustrated, I said to forget about everything, and ended the call. I didn't tell, or swear.. I wasn't even sarcastic. I was genuinely flabbergasted by the lack of professionalism and lack of concern.
Dr. Lothstein didn't respond to any of my questions or concerns. Instead he sent a letter telling me he values his staff. Apparently I was aggressive and disrespectful, and have been asked not to communicate with staff other than to book appointments. I can't send in forms unless I schedule an appointment, and was threatened with being derostered if I can't respect his decision. Maybe I'd be offended if he was capable of filling out a form correctly

Doctor Dan has been wonderful over the years! He's great with my boys too! He always takes my questions/concerns seriously and I've had him personally call me with results many times (for myself or my sons). I absolutely love Teresa/Sarah/Nancy. They are wonderful and get us in asap when needed. He even came in to the office to see me when he was not scheduled to work because I had found a lump in my breast. He sent me for a mammogram and I was in the next day! Great job everyone! Very happy with him and his staff!

This is a great doctor and a great office. Very little waiting and not huge wait times to get in to see him.
