these reviews may be old but as a current patient, he is compassionate, caring, and explained in detail my diagnosis, his plan to correct it, and follow up. I cant say enough good things about him and his care. He came by to see me in the hospital after surgery, etc. His staff are very nice and you get in and out very quickly. No long waits at all. Small waiting room so you are not in there with 40 people lined up like other places. Couldnt be more satisfied!!

First, there are more than 7 chairs in waiting room. If you wait longer than 30 minutes it is because he has had a number of emergency patients that he feels need to be seen that day, unlike other docs that tell you if you need to be seen that day go to emergency room. He's always worked alone (no partner) because he feels no one will care for his patients the way he does. He's an old fashion doctor knowledgeable and caring. I feel fortunate to be one of his patients. True, his mother was a little rough around the edges. She had an extraordinary life. Published a book about it. She died last year. He has a new receptionist very nice and Margie his nurse is wonderful. You can't do better.

I was hospitalized with pneumonia a year ago where Dr. Barrio has privileges. He is a good doctor with excellent bedside manners. While I like Dr. Barrio, his office on Sunset needs some real help. The person at the front desk is fairly rude, but can't say anything to the doctor as she is his mother. Having numerous office appointments, the average wait time is always over an hour. Couple that with the small waiting room that only has 7 chairs, someone is always standing or sitting on the tables. I've left great doctors before due to their office and staff and won't hesitate to find another once my follow up with Dr. Barrio is through for the same reasons.

Excellent Dr. I went to the Hospital with a serious pulmonary condition and now, thanks God and him, I feel very well. He is a great person also.

Not only does his bedside manner demonstrate qualities of kindness, calmness, caring and genuine love for his patients, he is knowledgeable. He explains everything and answers every question you have. He answers them until you understand. He gives you a written plan of what is expected of you befoe your return visit. I beleive because he includes me and other doctors if needed, his patient in my plan of treatment works for me. He considers what I think and feel as we discusses and explains the importance of preventive programs, i.e. cease smoking, mammograms weight loss. He asks you about stress because he understans it plays a part in illness and it is important to have periods in your life to destress. Most very importantly, he talks to other physician who is involved in your case. Collborates and includes you in the medical decisions. I know hecares because he does all of these things and spends time with his patients to understand their whole body and not just his specialization.
