I came to this doctor at the age of 16 with all the symptoms of celiac disease and he told me it was just “anxiety” and that there was zero point in testing me for anything at all so away I walked, here I am at age 21 with the same problems and I found out that I do in fact have celiac disease and this delay in diagnosis has caused a lot of damage to my body, and has made my immune system go into overdrive where I get sick constantly, I will never EVER recommend this doctor to anyone, he gaslit me so hard and I will never not be angry at this misdiagnosis, thank god for someone finally listening to me and finding this out so I can begin my road to recovery. If you are reading this, this is your reminder that YOU know your body best and if YOU believe something is wrong then you stick with that and fight for an answer do not let anyone gaslight you the way that this man did.

So happy to be in the care of Dr. Bax. Finally have a Doctor who took my son's condition seriously and is helping to get him feeling better after being brushed off by other Pediatrician's for years. Always feel supported and listened to and with a plan to move forward after seeing Dr. Bax.

This doctor started seeing my son when he was 12 years old for esophagitis and never changed his diagnosis, although my son did not have any more symptoms. Later, at the age of 16, my son began to have symptoms of colitis and although the colonoscopy showed that he had ulcerative colitis, Dr. Bax never gave importance and treatment for this diagnosis. In addition, my daughter was also diagnosed with esophagitis at 12 years old and he did not give it importance or treatment and today my daughter at 16 does not have the attention of any specialist in gastroenterology because Dr. Bax gave us a bad recommendation and my daughter is without attention and because of this problem she has lost 5 kilos and there is no specialist doctor in London who wants to treat her.

As the patient I can say he was an amazing doctor. I was just about to turn 17 when I was diagnosed and he became my specialist but he was super helpful in helping me understand what was going on and why we needed to do what we were doing. He was talking to me personally (it’s a big deal for that since typically doctors talk to the parents like the kid isn’t there) and answered my questions. Now that I’m 24, have had 2 different specialists since I turned 18, I miss the communication, understanding, caring and willingness he showed. You can’t get that with everyone. If only I was still under 18 and he could be my specialist again

My daughter has been seeing Dr. Bax for over 8 yrs. she is now 18 and needs to be monitored by and adult Gi. All I can say is that we are going to miss him!...He has been amazing every step of the way. I was reading some of the lower ratings for him and as difficult as it is to have a child in pain/sick without clear answers; doctors aren’t God. Dr. Bax feels for families and their sick children. It’s not easy for parents to accept the illness of a child but we must make sure that we understand our professionals in order to keep them around and loving what they love to do. Dr. Bax would often laugh, but never did I think he was laughing at us. His mind is full of wealthy information and I think that when a question is asked of him; his mind is all over it and he laughs. It all depends on each person’s perspective. Dr. Bax is knowledgeable and caring.

Every appointment I went to, he was at least 20 minutes late. I often had booked appointments as soon as he was open, and we would arrive to his office well before he did. He seemed to be extremely conceited; which made him not a good listener. I would try to explain the severity of my pain (which has lead to 4 + trips to the ER via ambulance) and he made me feel like it was invalid. He told me there was nothing he could do. I talked about the option of surgery and he laughed. He made me feel unimportant and for lack of a better word, stupid. I went to him between 5 and 7 times, he had prescribed me a medication that ended up worsening my symptoms and I had to switch back to my previous prescription. I wouldn’t recommend Dr. Bax.

Been seeing Dr. Bax for approximately 6 years now, and although extremely knowledgable, he tends to underestimate my concerns and pushes things off. I had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, and they all took many months to get results. Staff NEVER answers the phone, took 3 months of calling every couple of days multiple times to get a call back. At first he was concerned with my health and assumed it was chrons disease, but now is trying to tell me that maybe it's just constipation.. I understand that it's hard trying to figure things out, but it's ridiculous how he went from such extreme diagnoses to simple constipation when my symptoms are getting worse. Anyway, overall, he is a very good, extremely smart doctor, but again, poor receptionist and tends to underestimate my symptoms.

We've been seeing Dr. Bax for almost 4 years now for our son who is a little bit of a medical mystery in a sense. He is very compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient. I trust him completely with our little guy. Dr Bax is honest and never rushes me out. He really takes time to answer all of my questions and offers good advice to calm my worries. It is so refreshing to see a specialist who is so devoted to providing excellent care to his patients. He has been an incredible advocate for our child when no one else at LHSC wanted to take on the "risk" associated with a rare and non-textbook condition. He helped us seek out a great surgeon to operate on our son in Toronto and always followed up phone calls or emails in a timely manner. I really can't say enough good things about him. He's great!

Really respect Dr. Bax and he respects my opinion and concerns. Always stays on top of new research to help out. He appears to be quite compassionate about his patients. Although my daughter doesn’t ever speak during clinic, I believe that she trusts him. I’m grateful for him.
