I had an involved 5 and a half hour surgery and Dr. Skubic sent me home from the hospital the next morning. Even against my protests and the protests of my family. I didn't have adequate care at home and I told him so. I even asked to go to a rehab center. He refused to send me to one. He told me to "Just have a friend pop in." I was having severe pain and needed to be in the hospital. Two days later I was readmitted through the ER. He sent me home the next day. After a year plus of seeing him, and still having significant pain, he told me everything looked fine and suggested I settle my workers comp claim and move on. Fortunately, I didn't take his advise. I changed doctors and found out my fusion hadn't taken and the hardware he had used was all loose and moving in a windshield wiper motion causing me a lot of pain. He also had cut a nerve that had caused permanent pain and numbness in my leg. He never acknowledged it, even though I brought it to his attention many times. I have since had the surgery redone, the hardware taken out and new hardware put in. I am recovering from the 2nd surgery and hoping for a better outcome. Just a note, the hardware that was taken out, is manufactured by another physician that works at Arrowhead Orthopedic. I realize that not all surgeries are successful and it's not the fault of the doctor, but I think Dr. Skubic was careless at best in releasing me from the hospital in the condition I was in. He either wouldn't tell me the surgery had failed or he is too incompetent to see that it had failed. The 3 other doctors that I saw subsequent to him had no problem seeing the what was wrong. Needless to say, I would not recommend him to anyone.
