The appointment was extremely rushed, it felt like Dr. Mikkelsen didn't want me to talk nor ask questions, he seemed apathetic. On followup, he didn't call me like he said he would with the results, but rather wrote me a note attached to the tests results. He said to continue with the care plan we discussed, but we never discussed a care plan. He made no other recommendations to my MD regarding future testing schedule. On his examination notes, he charted observing/examining several things that he did not do at all. He may be a skilled surgeon, but I did not care for his style at all. I can not recommned him for these reasons.

Dr. Mikkelsen has been my urologist for about six months now due to BPH and urine retention. He performed a TURP surgery that has been successful. All throughout my interactions with him, he has been attentive, answered my questions and my wife's and never rushed us. He explained my options and l am very pleased with the results. He is an excellent surgeon and physician. Patrick Hough

Dr Mikkelsen just treated me for elevated psa in August 2015 and possible prostrate cancer. He was excellent. He answered all questions thoroughly and he was punctual and fully experienced. We did a sonic biopsy which was quick and thorough. He told me the preliminary visual findings were fine with no sign of any problem - subject to the actual lab results next week. I found him to be quiet, complete, competent ,and thorough. He did a Greenlight laser procedure 6 years ago to open my prostate. I can only say that he has gone through a complete 180 degrees from how I found him in 2009 when he was more abrupt, less patient tolerant, and generally not as matured. Now he is an excellent advocate of patient care and knowledge. I would definitely recommend him. Gene Cohen - Spokane

Dr Mikkelsen is completely no nonsense. Above all, he is a extensively experienced and extremely skillful surgeon. He is absolutely punctual. His minimalist style may be off putting, but he will answer questions precisely. His staff is eager to fill in for any blanks that he may leave.
