In 2008 Mom had a hysterectomy & bladder sling at NSMC by Dr. Filoso, her urologist & surgeon. By 2009 she had frequent "Urinary Tract Infections." By 2010/11 it was a revolving door: UTI-Meds-ER-ICU/Hospitalization-Rehab-VNAs. With Medicare & Medex, paying bills was never an issue. I felt NSMC & docs were missing something so I took her to Dr. Minassian (Urogynocologist, Brigham & Women's). After an internal exam he said the sling was to blame. It contracted & prevented her from completely voiding (infected) urine. She was to follow her doc's orders (antibiotics) & return to him about the sling. Days after that visit & before completing the antibiotics, she passed (sepsis) in the ICU (BWH). Sepsis had ravaged her body. NSMC, Filoso, etc knew about the UTI problem. Filoso, her surgeon, never questioned the sling OR did an internal exam; he did prescribe pills. Medicare/Medex NEEDLESSLY paid OVER A MILLION $ in expenses. As loving family & caretakers we suffered greatly along with her.

Dr. Filoso is an excellent urologist and experienced surgeon. He has done 3 kidney stone removal/laproscopic surgeries on me over the years. I even interrrupted his Thanksgiving dinner one year with my kidney stone issues and he did my surgery the next day. He is a kind, caring person as well as a great doctor. The only drawback to seeing him is the ridiculously long wait at the office. Plan on sitting in a packed waiting room for at least an hour before being moved to an exam room.
