Doctor Skepasts referred me to Dr. Ryan Paterson for the HOLEP procedure for my enlarged prostate.
I’m so grateful for his wise decision. I’m one week past my surgery and I’m amazed at the result.
Thanks to both of you for your professionalism!

Dr Skepasts did I believe save my life with an early detection of prostate cancer. His referral to the biopsy service at our hospital resulted in a negative report. But Dr Skepasts has been working with cancer patients for a long time and he suspected that the report was a false negative. It is very difficult to detect and collect tiny cancer cells in the prostate during the early stages of cancer. He decided to refer me to the Surrey Cancer Clinic who agreed with Dr Skepasts suspicion and proceeded with a one month course of radiation. PSA score dropped immediately after. Dr Skepasts has continued to follow my prostate condition. Excellent doctor.

Dr Skepasts diagnosed my “immense” prostate (over 200 cc) and the impact it could make on one of my kidneys. He immediately referred me to a surgeon at UBC who performs HOLEP. Surgery was performed quickly and after 2+ months of recovery, I’m doing great. Dr Skepasts is a no nonsense doctor who gathers the necessary information, speaks in simple/understandable language and makes you feel like you’re well looked after…… because you are.

Thanks to Dr Skepasts timely diagnosis of my prostate cancer and his prompt surgical attention, I was not only spared the most imminent risks of it spreading, but my post operation, virtually zero PSA level, suggests my recurrence probability was significantly reduced.

My Pre-operative Prognosis of Recurrence probability after surgery based on,
PSA 10.1 to 20 ng/ml, Gleason score 8 to 10, Clinical stage T2 b/c
After 3 yrs After 5 yrs After 7 yrs After 10 yrs
25% 38% 49% 59%
My Post- operative Prognosis of Recurrence probability after surgery based on,
PSA 0 to 4 ng/ml, Gleason score 8 to 10, Pathological stage - Organ confined disease
After 3 yrs After 5 yrs After 7 yrs After 10 yrs
14% 22% 30% 37%

A calm reassuring doctor with a honest straight forward manner. Once my cancer was diagnosed he arranged treatment quickly and efficiently. His post-op follow up and support was excellent and helped make the best of a bad situation.
