Every time I've had a problem or needed help he does not return my call for a week. I could die waiting for him or his staff to call me back. He forgot to perform a second test that I needed while I was under anesthesia.

If you are having serious problems with your gut and need an ERCP Dr. Elfant is one of the few qualified in NJ. He is acclaimed for doing ERCPs. That being said, my experience with him was not the best. He came to see me while I was in Virtua as requested by my GI. He explained to me that I was not a typical case for having SOD, but would do the ERCP. He was sure it would be negative. After the procedure he told my family my sphincter was among the worst he's ever seen and found a congenital defect. All of this is no big deal to me, but I developed pancreatitis from the procedure (a risk with this procedure) and the only time I saw Dr. Elfant was before my procedure and immediately after when he realized he'd have to admit me. I was at Cooper 10 days and never saw the man. I saw him one other time and that was for another procedure for him to remove the stent he put in that was supposed to come out on it's own. He never even explained the defect he found to me or my family.

I went for many yrs. w/a blocked bile duct. My previous dr. told me I had to take narcotic for the rest of my life and get over it, that it was my nerves. I looked on the internet for the best gastro. dr in N.J. & found Dr elfant. He did a couple of tests & had a suspicion. When I went to the e.r. for extreme pain was it then confirmed. The gastro. dr in the e.r. never even heard of my dx. W/in a couple of weeks literally I went to cooper, had the bile duct cleaned and a stint put in. I was so nervous & his staff was very simpathetic. They took care of my illness and my fears. He isn't overly warm & talkative, but I would rather have an accurate dx. Atlantic Care Admin. PPO

Dr. Adam Elphant is a god send. My wife was having pain in her side. Dr Elphant got her in for an appt immediately and did an endoscopy within a couple of days. He was highly rated by patients and even other doctors. This guy is one of the best in the U.S. at what he does and has a very kind bedside manner.

Dr. Elphant is extremely skilled, gentle. Although I worried about my colonoscopy, it was literally as easy as taking a nap. (The prep is far from pleasant, but it's a necessary evil.) Dr. Elphant explained his findings immediately after the procedure. I had a polyp. I scheduled with his office to have it removed. Again, I had a very good experience. I have since recommended Dr. Elphant to my family in NJ and they equally pleased. He is a gifted physician.

Dr. Elphant was to do an endoscopy into my pancrease for a stricture at cooper Hospital. To my surprise there were 4 of us all scheduled at the same time. I was told after my surgery that another person did the procedure while Elphant was present. When I woke up another Doctor told me I had a pseudocyst, they put a stent in, did a biopsy and celltology report and would send results to my primary. The report stated that 5 biopsy were taken and were too small 4 servival, nothing about celltology results and that he felt i have chronic pancretitis or begining stages of pancreatic cancer. I called cooper hospital for celltology report, they couldn't find it..so very concerned what was in the celltolgy report that would make him feel i could be in begining stage of pancre.cancer, so I made an appt. with Dr. Elphant, waited 2 hrs,ask sectry 4 reports, she called cooper & told they lost them. Dr.came in flipped my folder open & said both reports came back ok!I ask 2 c them? said its ok!!
