This doctor denied my mother of surgery when she had stage IV colon cancer, even though he advised that she do neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior. He also basically warned every other OC surgeon not to operate on her. Luckily, we found a brave and daring surgeon in Kaiser LA, who took a chance on her and performed a fantastic surgery. My mother has been alive and living for 15 years past diagnosis and it was all for another surgeon, definitely not Dr. Hwu. Interesting to hear all the other comments about his bad bedside manners - definitely is not a surprise to us. In hindsight, we are most definitely happy that we did not end up having Dr. Hwu operate on my mother - she deserved better and got it!

Took my son to see him for a 2nd opinion on 6/20/19. My kid has been suffering with an anal issue since the beginning of the year. This old man should retire. Awful doctor!! He Rude, condescending and wanted to humiliate my son in front of me. It was like how dare us come back for a second. Not one ounce of compassion.

Poor maners. Very rood. Not helpll at all. Us answer to my question were "i dont know". He did a procedure in my hemorroid and never told me it was gonna be very painfull after 20 minutes. I had to pull over the free way for more than two hours till pain easy. He enter to the room with another male who was there on my visit and never told me who was that person. Ver unprofesional. Never again.

Did some bowel surgery. Has a infection and told this was normal in 50% of the case for bowel surgery. This doctors bedside manner is very poor.
