I was a patient of Dr. Chau’s from the start when he came to Whitehorse. After me, he then took on my brother when he moved to Whitehorse, and then my mom. He has been an amazing doctor and is willing to give it to you straight - which I truly appreciate! Thank you Dr. Chau!!

I recently had several appointments with Dr. Huy Chau and, unfortunately, my experiences were far from satisfactory. Despite my efforts to discuss and explore my health concerns, I felt dismissed and gaslit throughout my treatment. It became necessary for me to bring additional support during appointments to have my concerns taken seriously, which, in my opinion, speaks volumes about the level of patient care provided.

My concerns, particularly regarding mental health, were repeatedly brushed aside without sufficient investigation or empathy. It became apparent that Dr. Chau's understanding and sensitivity towards mental health issues are lacking, which significantly impacted the quality of care I received.

Furthermore, I observed a concerning difference in treatment based on gender. My experiences alongside observations of interactions with male patients suggest a disparity in how seriously concerns are taken depending on the patient's gender. In my case, it required substantial evidence and advocacy from a family member for my concerns to be acknowledged, a scrutiny I noticed was not equally applied to male patients presenting similar issues.

These experiences have been both frustrating and disheartening. It's crucial for patients to feel heard, respected, and taken seriously by their healthcare providers, regardless of their gender or the nature of their health concerns. Unfortunately, this was not the case in my interactions with Dr. Chau. I hope this feedback encourages a reevaluation of patient care practices to ensure a more inclusive, empathetic, and professional approach.

Dr. Chau, your bedside manner with certain clientele that may not be in your 'league' is negligible.
What you prescribed to a vulnerable client with a syndrome that is not well known about in the clinical field in Whitehorse is absolutely criminal.
The drug has side effects that could end this person's life, and you went ahead and prescribed it.
We will be investigating further, it's fortunate I caught this right away.
In the meantime, I would not recommend anyone see this doctor.

Chau saved my moms life when she came up for a visit. He saw her when she wasn’t from Yukon and wasn’t a patient. He did a number of tests and spent a great deal of time with her. He diagnosed a rare infection that was missed by her doctor. She needed a medivac to Vancouver and he constantly checked in to ensure she was ok. The doctors in Vancouver were impressed with the catch and said it saved her life. He also checks in with my family if he sees one of us have had an ER visit when he wasn’t there. He might be blunt and to the point but he knows his stuff and I appreciate the straight forward approach

Went beyond and above. I was in Mexico with a broken foot and insurance company was denying local care. I had to travel back to Whitehorse with an untreated broken foot. He arranged a surgeon appointment for me upon my arrival while he was out of country on vacation. Above and beyond - 5 stars from me.

My visit with Dr Chau was at Emerg, and I received excellent treatment there. It was obvious that Dr Chau had looked over my file carefully; he also took the time to talk to a specialist from outside the territory that I'd already seen. He fielded my questions, and acted upon a couple of my requests. I left feeling grateful for his care.

I am really impressed with the service and professionalism of Doctor Chau. He listened to me with 100% attention and asked my opinion before prescribing medication. Later on he called and follow up my health condition which is really impressive. I wish I could get him as my family doctor. Anybody could guide me for this? I will be really grateful.

Dr Chow has been my personal family physician for over a decade. His direction, assessments and patience have always been excellent.

Dr Chow recently accepted our father as a patient for dementia/ end of life care and has been very helpful. He provided us honest, detailed direction and support and we felt he played a significant role in helping both our father and our family throughout this time. The more I interact with Dr Chow the more I am grateful for having him as my physician. I would recommend Dr Chow for both a personal and family doctor 100%.
