This doctor shouldn't be practicing medicine. I broke both arms back in August 2020, my right arm was had 3 fractures of the humus which caused nerve damage to my right hand, the doctor in emergency knew this but was told by Dr. Riaz to just deal with the fracture and don't worry about my hand, this is the hand I used to write with and today still dealing with nerve damage and pain, when I would go to the cast clinic every month I would mention my hand and got the same response as the emergency resident got, we will deal with the hand after the fracture had healed. I had no use of my right arm at all after the fracture "healed", couldn't lift my arm over my head, so I went to my family doctor who referred me to the nerve clinic in Calgary, that is where I found out I had 3 fractures not 1 and where I found out physio should of started two weeks after my accident, I was told by the doctors there physio was going to be very painful and it was very painful, I have most of the moment back in my arm, but can't make a fist with my right hand to this day because of the nerve damage in my hand, if he had done his job right, I wouldn't be going through all the pain I am still going through, yes I will probably need surgery in my right hand to fix the nerve damage. He should of listened to the emergency doctor who was on that night. He is the top orthopedic doctor in Medicine Hat , really? He comes across so sweet and nice at all my appointments just wished, he cared about my right hand a little more instead of ignoring it. Sorry if I broke my arms today, I would go to Calgary first, rather than take the chance that Dr. Riaz is on.

I did not like this doctors attitude, he really thinks he’s something special. He did not help my problem or even explain anything about it. I left there feeling very disappointed and I wasted months of my time waiting to see him. And his receptionist told me she is only allowed to talk to him once a week! 🤨

Dr Riaz himself sounds like a great doctor and had a pleasant phone conversation with him but his receptionist is appalling, rude and makes up lies to cover her own mistakes ! As a result she got me dismissed as a patient and refused to let me make another appointment with Dr Riaz to clear up the mistake SHE made because doing so would reveal what an absolute liar she is! Incredibly rude!!!!! Get a new receptionist!

Dr Riaz has a compassion and kindness that my Father who needed a RtTKR experienced since we started on the journey to get him on the mend. We had endless referrals, injections, X-rays and initially got referral to Lethbridge bone and joint, who recommended a TKR, and referred to orthopedist in Lethbridge...this was in December. Called the surgeon and was: don’t call us, we will call you.....said not to expect call until April and not to get hopes up my dad could even have surgery, due to his age. Also was told that he would have to wait13 months if accepted....well fast forward to January, contacted my Dad’s primary explained situation and got referral to Dr. Riaz.....saw Dr. Riaz in February, referred to cardiologist to clear him for surgery and given a surgical date in May!
This doctor gave my dad his life back, although we are still in the early days of recovery, my Dad is out of the worst of his pain, he can full weight bear and I know that due to the Doctor’s expertise he will make a full recovery barring unforeseen infection . I recommend this surgeon to anyone. His office staf are helpful kind and will go the extra mile in assisting you with any info and problems that arise. I give Rachel’s a 15/10 rating. Thank you Dr. Riaz and staff!

Dr. Riaz operated on me and that was the last time I saw him until 5 seconds before discard. No follow up, no opportunity to ask questions, no follow up. Might be a good surgeon but a terrible doctor. Do not recommend. Called his office to book a follow up visit a week ago still waiting for a call back to book that appointment.
They are as bad at service as he is at doctoring.

Still waiting for a pain management referral 2 weeks after told it would be sent right away. Dr. seems fine, administrative help is the worst (July 2020) I have ever experienced even when she was wrong so this is probably why she hasn't sent the referral yet. Suggest good doctor get a competent admin person. This has not always been the case so not sure if the reg person is on vacation...

Dr Riaz is a wonderful surgeon and an amazing man. The guy with the magic touch. I have great things to say about the staff as well. Never had an issue with them. We are all human, before expecting perfection in others make sure you are perfect yourself.
