My mothers was seeing Dr Berger for years, but at the time of her heart attack he was on vacation. My 77 then year old mother, formed an Atrial Fibrillation in North Shore, while she was treated for a heart attack, after her stent was put in. We’re very great full to God because too many things just went wrong in the hospital. Besides that the nurse didn’t put the IV correctly, mom complained that she was in sever pain and her arm hurt from where the needle was put in. It took two days for them to finally bring in another nurse who only did IV’s to see what’s wrong. The nurse said she could have formed an infection for this long. Dr Berger didn’t contact my mom the entire time she was hospitalised. It would have been nice to at least call her the moment he came back, but he was too busy. My mother still wanted to see him and remain at Northshore. But exactly one year ago 10/25/21, when she complained that this time she’s feeling exactly like she did before the heart attack. He didn’t order any tests, but her internet’s had ordered the tests to be done immediately that day at North Shore in HP. I have to say they were great in that department. We went to Dr Berger for results and he congratulated her, everything looked great, ultrasound of the heart, labs, etc. I specifically asked if he’s sure all tests were done and asked if the stent needs to be looked at, he didn’t reply. Not even two months later after she died. Cardiologists order their patience tests that are in regards to the heart not internet’s. He didn’t order anything only blood work. If I look back I shouldn’t have not trusted him, he should have looked into it, if there’s a blood clog or a stent that needs to be replaced again. I was the one doing all the research to see if there can be anything else, and took her to the internist and bagged for further tests. He should have checked all the boxes, he’s a cardiologist.

Dr. Berger saw my 95 year old father in HP hospital. My dad went into A.Fib last night in the ER for the first time that we know of. Berger was the consultant on the floor, and I made sure to ask the ER, my father's nurse on the floor, Berger's office staff (3 separate people) and the hospitalist to have him call me. As we all know, it is a real bummer (understatement) not to be with our family members because of COVID. I tried all day to hear from Berger, making calls, some answered, and with some calls, the phone just kept ringing. FINALLY, at 6 pm, he called back, sounded put out that he had to talk to me, said there was nothing more to do and all the information was in his chart. Well, I don't have access to his chart. I asked him a few questions and finally said, "Going forward, maybe you could do better with communication." He said, "Ill work on it." I said, "I hope so." Some doctors are gentle souls. This one does not appear to be. I was so frustrated and stressed today from the ordeal that I might need to see a cardiologist myself in the near future. I guarantee it won't be Berger.

Dr Berger wasn't able to properly read my tests over a four year period. I had been having issues with atrial fibrillation. Dr. Berger said I was fine. I made an appointment with Cleveland Clinic after having several cardioversions for atrial fibrillation. I was diagnosed with Severe Mitral valve stenosis. The Severe mitral valve stenosis was caused by Mitral valve repair done at Highland Park Hospital 15 years prior. I had severe mitral valve stenosis for 15 years according to Cleveland Clinic. He didn't read my tests properly otherwise he would have caught my problem. Cleveland Clinic who performed my open heart surgery said my symptoms were hard to miss.
