Dr. Hickey and the ICU staff at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital are nothing short of amazing. Dr. Hickey truly cares for every single patient that crosses his path. Never in my life have I encountered a Doctor like him. If not for Dr. Hickey and the ICU staff I know for certain that my husband would not be here today. We've gone back twice since 2012 to visit Dr. Hickey and his staff, they made that much of an impact on our family. From the bottom of my heart I thank Dr. Hickey and the ICU staff. If your loved one ever ends up in the ICU at Millard Fillmore Suburban rest assured that they will receive the very best care possible and the family will receive the support and love they need from Dr. Hickey and the staff to make decisions and just be present for their loved one.

I am very sure that if it wasn't for the efforts of Dr. Donald Hickey that our middle son would not be alive today. After unsuccessful surgery by a staff Dr. in a Niagara County hospital, he had him moved to "his" hospital. He received the best of care around the clock for 8 weeks in the ICU from himself and the excellent group of specialists he chose and the ICU staff who respect him eventhough he is demanding. He makes himself available day & night and monitors his patients' progress constantly. I would most highly recommend him, in fact he operated on our oldest son afterward with the same excellent results !!!

I went into the emergency room with severe abdomnial pain. It turns out that I needed emergency gall bladder surgery. A friend of mine who took me to the hospital had had gall bladder surgery said I hope you get Dr. Hickey. I did, and I am glad I did! He treated me with the utmost professionalism and demanded the same of his staff. There was never a question I had that went unanswered by a team of competent health care providers. Would I recommend Dr. Hickey to anyone else? Yes!! I saw him a couple weeks ago because I had experienced discomfort in the area where he had performed surgery. He had me come to his office immediately and ordered blood work and a other tests. All of which came back negative but assured me that it was nothing and he had my welfare as a priority.

Dr Hickey is one of the most dedicated doctor's I have ever met. He brought back a family member from death's door and continued to care for him and manage a staff of experts to work with him on the case for weeks after the delicate surgery. All with a very successful outcome. He demands a lot from his staff- because his patient comes first.

Kaleida Health and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is very lucky to have a dedicated doctor like Dr. Hickey. I was beginning to have my doubts about the Kaleida Health care system, as I lost both of my grandparents in one of their hospitals. My grandfather lost his battle with heart disease, and my grandmother lost her battle with heart disease, liver and renal failure. My faith in Kaleida Health was restored when Dr. Hickey saved my Uncle, who was very near death. A few long weeks later, my Uncle left the hospital, and today he is doing wonderful. Dr. Hickey also performed a complicated hernia surgery on my father, and within a few weeks my Dad was back on his feet. Western New York needs more caring, dedicated doctors like Dr. Hickey!

Dr. Hickey is one of the most dedicated and thorough doctors I have ever met. He agreed to take on my brother's case after his initial, emergency surgery was botched at another local hospital. There was a serious chance that he would not live. We moved him to another hospital and Dr. Hickey put together an amazing group of specialists that worked night and day to save his life. After eight weeks in ICU he walked out of the hospital. Dr. Hickey monitored his condition day and night, operated into the night when necessary and did everything humanly possible to provide excellent treatment. He is demanding of the hospital staff but the ICU nurses respect him and give the best care to his patients. His office phone is answered day or night by either he or his wife - what doctors do that any more? There is no doubt that my brother would not have survived if not for this wonderful man. We are forever in his debt. I would recommend him to anyone who needs surgery.

Dr. hickey performed surgery on me for a perforated appendix and a bowel obstruction. I thought he was fantastic. I was in intensive care for 10 days and a total of 2weeks in the hospital but his care and his staffs care were unbeatable. Very dedicated and very caring surgeon.
