I had the pleasure of having Dr. Zwicker for more then a year as a consultant to my diabetic medication issues. I had been experiencing difficulty getting my A1C under control and work g in harmony with my other medications. Dr. Zwicker was able to find the harmony needed and get my A1C where it needed to be. I experienced none of the negative things others outline in here. 5’s the board for me.

Arrogant much? I was quite shocked. I saw nothing redeeming about this "Dr". zero compassion, and treats you like you're an idiot, Guess what Doc, when we say we're having issues dealing with thyroid issues, believe us!! Go back to school lady, you left your bedside matters on the street. (only good thing about the visit to her, which i'd waited 2 months for, was her nurse/receptionist

Found her flighty, arrogant with zero compassion. Like, “yeah, yeah, so u have a thyroid issue, doesnt everyone?” Kind of attitude. Very disappointing. Health care system in NS sucks!

I had started seeing Dr Zwicker again January as I had gotten pregnant again I did a glucose tolerance test and when I saw her she wanted me to test 7 times a day before n after each meal and before going to bed, test strips are not cheap esp with no coverage and she wanted my pre meal sugar to be as low as 3.5 (while pregnant) when I told her I can feel it at that low she told me oh that's not low then why did I feel shakey dizzy ready to fall over. I don't understand why want anyone pre diabetic or full blown diabetes sugar that low it makes me uncomfortable to even go back to seeing her and she's yet to give me a reason why she wants my pre meal that low my husband has been diabetic since he was 19 and was never told that, neither has me sister she was diagnosed at 13 she's now going on 45 I think someone needs more training n empathy.

She's going through the motions, not doing actual medicine. Her nurse is fabulous, though, of much more help than the actual doctor.
Dr Zwicker & the receptionist should find other work. I suggested what I thought might have caused my thyroid storm and in a very angry voice she said, "NO"! When I looked shocked she followed it up with a calmer, "I don't know about that." it's time doctors, especially specialists, read the most current literature in their field. Relying on 20 year old information to run a practice is not acceptable.
She's still using radioactive iodine 1- 133 to test the thyroid, while in the states they find it too harsh and have switched to 1- 123, which is less harmful.

From the American Thyroid Association:
"I-123 is the usual isotope used to take pictures and determine the activity of the intact thyroid gland (Thyroid Scan and Radioactive Iodine Uptake, RAIU), since it is harmless to thyroid cells. No special radiation precautions are necessary after a thyroid scan or RAIU using I-123. I-131 can also be used to take pictures of the thyroid gland, although it is rarely used due to the harmful effects it has on thyroid cells."

Dr. Zwicker’s expertise, timely intervention, and continuous follow up was critically important to the outcome of my medical issue. A professional, personable, and confident doctor who puts you at ease as you feel comfortable knowing you are in good hands.

No doubt she is top of the line - only problem I have is how to leave a message for her.

Amazing level of empathy and professionalism! I took my wife in to see her and she was so reassuring and spent the time to really go through the issues. We arrived full of anxiety and fear, and left feeling highly relieved and more at ease.

Oh my, when I read the negative reviews here I had to go back and check if it was Dr. Debbie Zwicker they were reviewing.

I have been a type 2 diabetic for almost 35 years, for 2 years I could not get my glucose levels under control. It seemed no mater what I did did not work. Hence my referral from my family Doctor. It took no time for her to adjust my meds and get my A1C back to where it should be.

I can’t say enough about her and her staff. Nothing short of fantastic. I would highly recommend Dr Zwicker.

4 months ago I was admitted to the ICU shortly after finding out I was diabetic and not getting any help from my family Dr. Was supposed to see this doctor after I was released because she was on vacation. Did not hear anything for a month and was given an appointment for December 17th. Come the date and my appointment is canceled. I've been waiting months. No one can tell me if I have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, I'm in the dark, dealing with high blood sugar and given no information and now we are entering a new covid outbreak. I'm convinced I'll be dead before I get an appointment with this person and my newborn son won't have me in his life . F%^$ the Healthcare system in nova scotia and this doctor
